Because others have not paid is not an excuse to shirk your responsibilities. You can't point fingers if you are also pointing at yourself.

The government has yet to say what the benefits of joining the WTO because the Bahamas will not benefit. We do need to get customs duty down and become more business friendly, but we should do this without the WTO. We have over a 95% trade deficit, we stand nothing to gain, we don't export anything.

You do realize that the excise taxes on beers are paid on local beers as well. That's why they are so high. Locally produced beer (Heineken/Khalik and Sands) pay the same excise tax to the government that an imported beer is charged. Please read about the things you are commenting on before doing so.

You seem to miss the point that your and my taxes are what are paying for those lower fairs. $13 million a year doesn't come from thin air. It comes from customs duty and property tax and VAT. Why are you and I supposed to pay for that instead of the ticket buying passenger?

Are you in favour of BahamasAir costing tax payers $13 million a year?

Absolutely. Their number are from less than 18 days of sales and probably less if they took time to put them together. That is not representative of anything in business. Wait till they have had a full quarter and then report. This is irresponsible hand waving, only trying to stir up unrest without any actual facts.

I think you are missing the part where drivers have to take on the responsibility of not hitting poles and driving safely. You're actually blaming the poles instead of the drivers. Do you not see how crazy that sounds.

Accidents on this island do not happen by accident, they happen because untrained driver go to fast without paying attention, talking on their phones, texting, driving drunk. People need to start taking responsibility for their actions and the police need to start enforcing the laws.
