What's up with you JohnBrown? Can't you recognize compliments when you see them. You may want to read Paul's comment again - a little more slowly next time.

Paul VZMK, thanks for the positive reviews of the Bahamas. Glad to have your support. I'm sure you are of the caliber to forgive "misunderstandings when you see them.

Government schools = 40 hours and so do most private schools (40 hours)

Nothing is wrong with the BGCSE and not everyone fails them. The problem is too many our students cannot read and parents don't care. Too many parents cloak their children and depend on handouts. Everytime their kid is punished in school, gets into trouble, doesn't get an award (which he didn't work for in the first place) they expect to go running to some politician to give their kid what he doesn't deserve.

The most significant problem with our educational system is social promotion. If parents knew that their children would not move to the next level until they had mastered the skills of the preceding level then I believe a lot of attitudes would change. This happened when I was a student in the family island (Long Island to be exact). Principals were embarrased to pass children out of primary school who could not read at the appropriate level for the high school and also students could not pass out of ninth grade until they had earned 5 or more BJC's with C or better grades. This produced excellent students. All who had potential, used it. Those who didn't have potential were trained in agricultural science or they simply left school to go fishing. This was in the days of NGM - outstanding educator for whom the best family island high school is now named.

In true Pingdomite PLP fashion such a promising venture was snuffed out - and nothing about them has changed today - same ole PLP, same old tactics.

In hindsight I have to give the writer wrong for assuming that all of the readers of this letter would be students of the English Language. "Moncurcool", when drawing a comparison (this is a comparative piece of writing) the aspects described first, second, etc are ascribed to the names that are mentioned first, second, etc. So - 'easy class, easy teacher' goes to Perry Christie and 'hard as hell class, mean as ever teacher' goes to the Honourable Hubert A. Ingraham.
Also, the purpose of the phrase "consecutive difference" is to point to the fact that the order of the descriptions given are ascribed to the order in which the names are given. No charge for the lesson.
