A friend of mine forwarded to me a link to the PLP's 2022 Election Manefesto. My comment to him was "I definitely will not be reading it. Every five years the PLP and FNM write magnificent manifestos. If they could execute one tenth of their visions the Bahamas would be a first world country".

From persons I have spoken to who religiously pay their RPT taxes every year it is disappointing that nothing is done for them.

It actually creates an incentive to let the tax build up for years and then offer the government 10% to settle the entire bill.

i doubt another $300 million in revenue for the government will stop the massive annual deficits. they will find away to wittle it away with no audits, reviews, easily accessable financial statements or explanations to the bahamian ppl as to what is actually going on

Unfortunately theses types of gatherings are part of wider and pattern of behavior that is frightening.

They also occur at some AirBnB’s which fall through the cracks as they are small hotels. For enterprising foreign investors flush with inexpensive foreign currency they buy up properties rent them on AirBnB, pay no hotel occupancy tax, no Bahamian employees, no national insurance, no security staff to enforce the law, some have rental cars and pick up and drop off service. They are used for large parties and certain other activity detailed in a recent Nassau Guardian activity.

This is not a police issue. This is a Town Planning and regulatory enforcement issue.

Large law abiding, tax paying, Bahamian employing hotels and restaurants are going broke and closing left right and center as these enterprises shut down our big box tourism product.

Looks like an issue for the Compliance Commission. Did Halsbury Chambers breach elementary KYC regulations by not signing an engagement letter with Adrian and/or WSC on the defamation action? An Engagement letter would have determined precisely who the client was including copies of passports, address verification, sources of wealth, retainer fees, estimated fees and recourse against negligence.

Indeed doesn't dealing with public officials involve enhanced KYC and money laundering investigations? Maybe not?

On the other hand its reaks of ethical and double dealing on Adrian's behalf by using WSC leverage to "coerce a law firm to go after their enemies"....so so vindictive and FNMish.

With no Ethics Committee in Parliament there is no regulator of these politicians.

Now you wonder why no deal the government does can be successfully executed on time, within budget and according to plan.

Not sure what Adrian is made about, Greg "ruining his good name", WSC not paying the legal fee defending him, the size of the legal fee or something else....hmmm, it maybe something else. Never knew until this article that Adrian's name had been sullied....I just thought he was naturally that way.

I would speculate that Adrian would like to be Prime Minister when Minnis retires in 2027 and is patiently "waiting his turn" unlike Branville. I have seen the future and its not good.

Opps, don't forget the Bahamasair plane leases at $100,000 a month, or the Dash 8 purchases, or the Defence Force boats from Europe, or the $100 million Shell power plant, or Baha Mar or Hilton...or Lighthouse Point ....wow, there are just to too many agreements to review.

Lets not approve the FOIA and just talk about good corporate governance. Also Minnis has borrowed enough money to feed us all.

Instead of a foreign water company let’s get a Bahamian company similar to the Cable Bahamas privatization - zero government onnership.

In fact while we are at it let’s get 2 private Bahamian companies to compete with each other on each island.

Now we have the worst of both world with foreigners selling water to the government who then on sells it to Bahamians at a loss.

I will be so happy when I wake up in the morning and don’t have to listen to Adrian’s bad news. Do they ever have anything positive to say?

Not sure Dawes. But I am sure Bannister as a qualified cost accountant with vast experience in running and regulating utility companies will get it correct. I have complete confidence in him.
