since 1978, the reason no national health scheme has been implemented are the doctors, who do not want any capitation system.
on this same page, the issue has been raised that the minister of health has been thrown under the bus and the nhi moved to the prime minister's portfolio, it is known that doctors in private and public sector will oppose it.
there is greed all around. the doctors are greedy, the insurance companies are greedy. and so is the government!!! wouldn't it be nice if the folks who raised 30,000 for an operation in a cookout spend it right here at PMH, so 25,000 can be siphoned off to give free prenatal care to illegals and to civil servants.
As it is today, the public doctors go to their private office at 1pm, the govt wants to keep them 9am-5pm, and some even say till midnight.
they have to keep it unde rwraps, so when the nurses and other allied health people come to work in January 1st, they will have to work extra hours at no extra pay, and the union do not have time to react.

This nation is a great producer of teaching moments. My dictionary(which begets ignorance, i only open it because of ignorance), says that journalism is writing in the public interest. We the taxpayers pay for COB, so its financial matters are in the public interest.
If a freedom of information act existed, then the journalists would be able to obtain information according to such. and therefore proceed with the desired probity.
many years ago i used to shop downtown, i also used to bank downtown. i had to get there by bus.
the shops i bought from are gone, the ones that sold books, linens and cashmere sweaters. ironmongery, nassau shop, island shop, paris shop, bernards, etc...
i started shopping and banking at the malls. now i bank mostly from my computer and shop online.
a lot of crap being sold downtown, and i cannot afford the 2,000 watches.
since when is flooding on bay and dowdswell street news? in 1997 i took the bus to go downtown and the downpour came. I never got off the bus , and glad i did not because water was at knee level in from of the stop and shop.
