why is he all over the media now?
he is a very unpopular ex-politician, and , even in his time in parliament, he was generally unpopular

ohdrap4 says...

He repeated several times in this story, his objective is to secure free housing for people.
At someone else's expense, of course.
I have always sacrificed to keep a roof over my head. Last time i lived rent or mortgage-free, I was 18 and my father was paying the bills.

Oy, then they should stop dispatching ambulances to buy KFC for lunch!!! lol

What a stupid idea, you are dead on arrival for your prom?

They better come up with a new law, otherwise this will turn into another urban renewal.
"Rent=to Own' usually means higher rent payments and some lumpsum payments to make up a 'downpayment'.

Now, here is wha i see people do:

-- A fancy fella i know had accumulated some funds towards the down payment, then did not meet the lump sums. He then asked the owner for credits of the amounts he paid towards equity, and lived those off till he moved out. The reason? The property was not water front. He lived there for three years and never noticed there was no water front.

-- A new set of people move into the same home with another rent-to-own agreement. At the end of the years they had a 5,000 lumpsum payment which they did not meet. Why? because they went to Disneyworld.

Many fianncial difficulties of bahamians arise because they cannot save, buy what they cannot afford.

You cannot make ants out of grasshoppers.

As it is now, lots of people stop paying their mortgages and get 3-4 years rent free to live and do not get evicted. If the GOVT starts renting homes, they will live rent-free for a lifetime.

Well, if someone has outstanding liens and judgements, why should they qualify for more loans.
Bankers, unlike pastors, are not in the business of forgiveness.

But all will be well, upcoming credit bureau will not be retroactive and will wash away all sins.

That they have perfected the art of engaging a majority of foreign teachers from poorer countries of the caribbean (who will work for peanuts) so they don't have to pay them any retirement?
these folks also will accept those classes with 40+ students.

the effects of Amazon.com would come, VAT or not.

Avon closed its doors because of ease in shipping from Amazon and Walmart.

So the business models have to change. I remember years ago when a local bookstore started offering books at US Cover price to remain competitive with Amazon.

They stayed competitive for quite a while, until the used book online sellers became more widespread. One can get used books for 1 cent, and pay the freight forwarder $9.00.

Nowadays, i compare all that I buy, sometimes the difference is only one dollar or two, so i buy locally. but many times I save 20% or 30% even paying shipping, duties and VAT.

Ah one could only imagine your salary deduction at 25%+13%= 38% plus pay 21% VAT, and you have to eat margarine to enjoy a tax break.

For the employers: 33% corporate tax plus 33% payroll tax to NIB. When you walk into a bank, there will little package of margarine at christimas time.
