I would hate to be in his shoes.

I had no idea any storm was coming, went to work after 3pm and was narrowly able to get home before flooding in the neighborhood would prevent it.

If I were some kind of representative, I would represent the ones who put me there rather than apologize for the shortcomings of the system.

I stopped going downtown a couple years ago, as all the nice things are no longer sold there, Scottish Sweater, cookbooks, linen, china etc...

The Nassau shop , ironmongery, scottish shop, island shop, bernard's are now all closed, maybe even the Baker's shop.

They have been revitalizing bay st for at least 20 years, nothing happens. It is disgraceful, no wonder the tourists only spend $70.

The understudy is a peculiar issue. I worked in a place once where there were always understudies. A few of them stayed for several years but the majority would move on to better paying jobs once they acquired work force skills better than the school system provided.

They also resented being paid smaller wages than that paid tothose who were training them.

The employer was in fact a scrooge, and all salaries were low, bahamian or not. But despite immigration fees and administrative hassle, it was still cheaper to keep a few work permits than pay a market salary to a qualified bahamian. The foreigners there were not on vacation, they were overworked and underpaid.

But, I repeat, where are the statistics for the number of foreign teachers employed? this category of worker has entitlement to low-cost immigration fees and a sure path to low-cost permanent residency.

The teaching profession can provide employment to Bahamians too.

I will not comment on the student's right to enter the House of Assembly-- this is an issue for the citizenry at large.

But, they are fighting for the right to PARK???? They are rich!!! They have cars!!! Let them eat cake!!!!

The schools in the USA, when faced with decreased govt funding, made up for it in fees, and at Worcester State Univerity, the students pay a $72 a year pedestrian fee, yes a fee for walking.

Tuition fees are not the largest proportion of student's school bills in many cases.

The technology fees happen because technology is very expensive and gets obsolete by the day. Schools allowed them selves to be hijacked and blackmailed by Learning Management Systems and other softwares. Why don't the students protest the technology by giving up their g4's for a week?

It is also surreal to see the COB unionists backing the students-- they forget that they negotiate constant salary increases and allowances for themselves, while only working 12 hours a week. Costs could be reduced if they taught more and if their "research" projects were subject to topics which increase revenue at the college. Administrators could also sign up for salary reductions.

I understand why he chooses to live here. He cannot dredge and reclaim land in these highly regulated societies where he could stay.

Although he is not the only one to harm the environment and get away with it.

I grieve for the victims and their families.
They were put in that dangerous position by neglect. I say 30% blame on the Igroup and 70% to the govt.
It is unacceptable to have the airport without emergency lights.
It is unacceptable to have no fire-fighting equipt.
Shame on the govt.
