My son and I enjoyed boating in the Bahamas some years ago like so many others do but were appalled and shocked that violent,deadly crime was so prevalent in such a beautiful small country !
Surely a fresh approach would be welcomed by the majority of decent law abiding folk who have to unfortunately live in fear 24/7 because of so many shootings and stabbings all around them !
I have been in the press/media since 1955 and lived all over the world but never known such a lot of violent crime in such a small place.
One way it could be curtailed is to import some tough, seasoned Florida cops who know the problem and absolutely WILL curtail it very quickly, they do a great job in Fla. where many if not most Bahamas visitors come from. This is a good idea and well worth the investment.
IF crime is tackled and prevented with extreme force by authorities tourism, investment and retirees interest in the Bahamas will likely soar otherwise every time it occurs more potential visitors will choose to shun the risks !
