@john Respectfully, why do you choose to opine when you have no expertise on the topic. I'm not "tongue lashing" I'm sick of my fellow Bahamians dying at the hands of unapproved "good pilots" knowingly bending the rules. I'm openly addressing my Bahamian brothers and sisters who continue to patronize these shady characters peddling transportation in private aviation aircraft subject to less maintenance scrutiny, and piloted by crew subject to less recurrent training and medical requirements. I for one don't want my family and friends to suffer out of ignorance. Charter operations certificates are needed for a reason, and legit charters are more costly because they have to DO MORE to be considered safe for frequent commercial flying. Stop making excuses for lousiness.
FAA registrations are public record. Pilot wasn't the owner. Also not an approved charter company aircraft. Quite likely Illegal carriage of Bahamian customers on a plane not subject to local charter company requirements. But keep up the great "reporting". This keeps happening because Bahamians cannot seem to learn. "Hackers" are cheap because they do not have to maintain their aircraft or train their pilots in the same continuous stringent way that an approved charter company does.
If it wasn't so needlessly verbose, padded with reiterated figures.... I might have actually read to the end. New Providence is ill prepared infrastructurally and strategically. However the land mass discussion is pointless... GB is as close to being absolute sea level as is possible. New Providence at least has a pronounced set of ridges along its center line, although those ridges are being demolished for fill at an alarming rate. The entire nation is exposed, topography be damned.
How, in the age of the internet and societal saturation with smartphones, laptops, tablets and smartwatches, does a kiosk "ease" access to a list of sex offenders? Boneheaded idea.
Pray tell, what stops any enterprising Bahamian Businessperson/Educator from buying a parcel of land and offering private schooling that meets an international standard? Is there some rule that limits the realization of their vision while enabling that of the King's College owner? I've heard horrid things about Chinese human rights breaches, yet they (and the equally controversial Saudis) own several worldwide hotel chains many of them on our soil. Perhaps we should limit all this foreign investment and pray for some enterprising Bahamian to make a sound business plan and convince investors of their capacity to execute to profitability. Bahamians, our feelings mean everything, practical solutions and actions? Minimal.
Dunno where that "Dr." prefix comes from but it sure isn't in common sense. Ok, so our ancestors were enslaved, how does that explain the malaise and lousiness we generally exhibit culturally? As a black man I am so sick of this whingeing copout. Every day I see opportunity laid at the feet of black people, but it involves self application, discipline, and years of dedication before reaping the reward. Call it like it is. Stop bitching about the past and instead work together to build a future for ourselves.
Why does a census with a significantly digital and telephone based component, cost $6 million? If I engaged 200 people for 1 month and tasked them to call the 100,000 households in this nation, paralleled by online submissions, that equates to roughly 6 calls per person, per day. Pay them each $3,000 for 1 month's unskilled work, grand total: $600,000 that's just telephony, online participation should reduce the total household calling. How we get to $6 million?
Or purchase an epirb as required by local regulations. Would've been picked up within hours of beacon activation. Glad he's okay, but the typical local boater is often ill prepared to set to sea.
This is exactly what I did over 2 years ago. Cruising around for free. Good thing I do my own assessments instead of listening to lemmings like "Tribanon"
