Can't blame them for that, our government should have required mooring buoys when they bought those islands. This anchoring issue is 100% our own fault. Thing is it can be resolved overnight, no need for committees, no need for any idiotic debate in the HOA, just tell them to install mooring buoys now. Problem solved..
No doubt the Bahamas will benefit when the new cruises do start, 3 and 4 day cruises will probably be the hot sellers for a while. But this year? Very very doubtful. And honestly, do we want cruise ships berthed in our ports while the virus rages here and in the US? Its not like cruise passengers are big spenders locally. Government gets most of the money thru departure taxes. If they want to sail pre-vaccine limit them to their private islands only and make sure all on island staff stay on island. This way we get the departure tax with no real danger from the virus. As for Mike and his crew well yet again they've been given a monopoly. They can wait as long as we say they must. Who cares? Its a monopoly, once it starts making money it'll never stop. What's another year to those millionaires? Let em wait until we have a vaccine...
We're going to need a larger morgue. Plenty Bahamians are going to die...
I see a bunch of house parties in Freeport, bars are packed daily with no one wearing masks.
This country is about to explode. Again.
I understand wanting to get back to normal, lord knows I'm tired of staying at home but we should at least be wearing masks and keeping our distance. And our country should be testing, tracing and isolating. We can't just ignore it and allow people to die.
Our people can control this, all we need to do is be smart. As it is now we can forget tourism, forget a healthy economy, forget a normal life. Until a legitimate vaccine is available we will suffer. Greatly.
The Americans and Russians seem to be rushing a vaccine. We should definitely avoid those but there are also legitimate efforts that we should be ready to use. And as for Bill Gates. What does he have to do with anything? Seems your doctor is a facebook conspiracy theorist...

He's basically admitting there is no plan without tourism.
But....
Their bungling, chaotic handling of the virus is actually killing our potential for tourism.
I swear its hard to imagine a worse administration than this one...

Whatever they do it has to be real. Tourism will not rebound anytime soon, no matter what they try. Time to deal with reality.
