TheMadHatter, it is my understanding that a fiscal responsibility act will be brought to parliament to address this issue. I hope it does come to pass

So they announce the increase taxes last week and in less than a week a "study" was done to determine that "2000" jobs will be lost? What kind of hatchet job study could produce that info so quickly. Base on the 10 years expert info the gov will only collect $35mil dollars on a $400mil a year industry, less than 10 percent, what is he complaining about. These clowns really think we are all fools.

realfreethinker says...

This is a bit misleading. The businesses should only increase prices by 4.5% because they do not pat vat. They will just be collecting more money for the government.

On 12% - now the backlash

He / she is the only person who truly understands what is happening in the country. jamani2 I applaud you for your sound reasoning. The chicken has come home to roost. Bahamians are just use to these one year budgets that uses smoke and mirrors to mask the depth of our financial situation. At least this gov has a well laid out three year plan to stabilize our country. KPT is the only minister in the past many years who has really told us the real truth about our financial status. He should be applauded.

well mudda you are a very angry and bitter person.

Sheeprunner12. It's unfortunate our people don't educate themselves , therefore people like mudda will be seen as the smart ones. It's no secret that vat was going to be raised. Brave them were planning on raising it to 15% had they won. I just hope we soon get around to eliminating all duties. Our problem is not that we are over taxed, but we have governments that waste it.
