DonAnthony .....with your expertise .....Can you shed some light on why FCIB share price is more stable and is as high as 11:30 today on BISX and Commonwealth Bank share price fluctuates more and is as low as 2:55 today even though both Banks have experienced the same effects from customers during the Pandemic?
Wireless technology has evolved to the point where a third licensed mobile operator with a total wireless infrastructure would eat Aliv and BTC lunch price wise if they enter the market. Just look at the many startups in rural areas around world where its not possible to run cable (fibre) lnes
After five years in the mobile operator business and gaining 48% of the mobile market in the Bahamas. Aliv can immediately hit profitability if the company parent can make the decision to go to the bondholders and give them option of converting the value of their bond holding to ordinary shares. Aliv is here to stay and depending on the uptake from the offer, Interest expenses would be almost totally eliminated or substantially reduced. Every year less than ten percent of the investments he predicts come to market. The BOB saga part two begins, a new inexperience managing director + Central bank lifting commercial lending restrictions + PLP back in power = Resolve version two in about three years. Cant make this stuff up, The boys are back.
Mr Bethell, Since the break water is so crucial to the safety and protection of the Conatiner port, maybe its time The 19 companies and the priviledged families who own 50% of the shares in the container port can come together and collectively pay for the break water repair work. After ali APD has not missed a single year of paying out dividends since inception and according to the memorandum of understanding between the government and APD the 19 companies are guaranteed a 10 percent rate of return even if they have to raise the tariffs on imports to meet the 10 % Its time to bite the bullet and get the break water fixed. Stop depending on the cash strap government for everything.
And while you negotiating with those families who's surnames make up the "who is who" on the well to do list in Nassau, its time they come to some kind of agreement to have them fix up and repair or demolish those old buildings on Bay street "east of east street that they left to rot since moving to the new port.
If people like James Smith who help caused this depth problem under the Christie administration would retire and let the new brilliant qualified minds in the Bahamas take on the challenge of solving our depth problem, maybe we would get positive results. This country needs to stop pouring old wine in new skins and expecting an solution based result
