The Bahamas Government should begin to plan ASAP for the Covid-19 tourism environment at all airports and all entry points in this country including Marinas when these lock downs and curfews end and the Hotels begin to open up. The post 911 world made shoe removal, and the taking of certain items onto planes illegal as well as advanced body scanning techniques the norm at airports around the world. It is going to be critical that we install Body scanning thermometer's at all points of entry to measure the temperatures of all passengers entering this country. When a vaccine is found for the corona virus all passports will have to show a stamp indicating the holder was inoculated. The situation in china now that they are opening back up proves that the virus will be seasonal.

it might be true because BFS cater to the major holes which are all closed down. BFS closure wont affect super value because their traditional suppliers are the old Bahamian oligarchy food whoesale companies.

I smell a rat ….Cable Bahamas sold their Summit Broadband Florida company for $301.5m US. The deal was closed earlier this year so why lay off 100 staff members at this time. I question calling it temporary the same week they sign an agreement with sun cash to accept Cable Bahamas cash payments and Cash and Go is allowed to operate banking hours and also accept CB payments. Looks like a down sizing exercise to me with Covid-19 being used as an excuse.. I think those customer service employees got thrown under the bus. Sun cash and Cash and go now doing their work.

Banker ….Hardware retailers like Kelly's and Tops, would cry foul if CBS is allowed to operate so I think this less about their a online presence. The other day Sands beer was shut down because they started home deliveries and commonwealth brewery and other liquor merchants strongly protested because sands had permission from the office of the PM.

in addition they follow the political directorate in power and build many government buildings and clinics. The clinics may be justified because the funds come the NIB medical branch . but NIB built Customs HQ, Min of Education HQ, Paul Adderly Building, Police HQ and dorms in freeport. Min of health HG, Sandilands rehab extension, many government office complexes in the family, the leonard Thompson airport in abaco and the list goes on. Many contracts were given to political cronies and all went over budget....SAD

The entire Insurance Industry needs to suck this Covid -19 situation up and take their losses like every body else. Over the years they have cause many claimants much pain, and sorrow with sub standard payments and inflated deductible payments and they always find some find print in their contracts to justify paying less. Take this covert-19 body blow like every one It will not last forever. No industry is immune from this situation

NIB now needs to liquidate one quarter of the worthless **B**ahamas **G**vernment **R**egistered **S**tock that they have been mandated to buy from the various governments over the decades. The chickens have come home to roost. The BGRS was always worthless when they bought it and its worthless today. The government cant even afford to buy back its own stock. Hundreds of millons of dollars will be needed to satisfy the payments to the over 17,000 claimants caused by the covert-19 crisis in addition to its present monthly obligations to pensioners, maternity, sickness, death benefits and other short term claims.

This is indeed a worse case scenario, for NIB and this is a result of what happens when politicians get power and play piggy bank with quasi government corporations.and tie up two thirds of its once liquid cash in worthless paper.
