John ….it is called **Herd Immunity**……..The UK government is following the advice of scientist who believe that Herd immunity is a form of indirect protection from infectious disease that occurs when a large percentage of a population has become immune to an infection because they already had it., thereby providing a measure of protection for individuals who are not immune.....This concept may eventually backfire on the UK government.

San Salvador (Bahamas) has an airstrip that's was built by the united states and was used as an Air force base. It can accommodate any size transport aircraft in the world. Let the British government in conjunction with the ship owner charter transport planes to evacuate the passengers back to England as the ship remains off shore San Salvador using the best quarantine methods and safety proceedures to get the passengers from the Ship to the planes and with no contact with the residence of San Salvador.. This method can be used for any ship that calls here and need emergency assistance with evacuation. This can set the Bahamas apart as an example what can be done as this crises expands.

All Banks should be using the ACH (Automated Clearing House) and the RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) systems for clearing checks in the Bahamas. Instances of fraud checks should be caught immediately with red flag exception reports issued to the various banks IT departments to catch fraudulent activity during the settlement period. Internal controls needs to be strengthened but I also suspect that most of the recent cases had inside help. For an incident like this to happen to the regulator shown that there is still a lot weakness in the clearing process.

Ten years after the 2010 earthquake is Haiti and thirty billion dollars in pledges and donations, Haiti today remains in worst condition than before the earthquake due to corruption and violence. Atleast the powers that be should know who not to strive to emulate in handling the donated finances.

Birdie get your time line right. Paul Wynn, the Wynn Group's were the lead prospective buyers for the Grand Lucayan at the time you speak of. The ITM Group/Royal Caribbean just entered the negotiation picture early last year after the Gov bought the hotel..

Agreed Bogart. If the RBDF could have lowered its attrition rate from inception, that organization would have easily exceeded the 5000 personnel figure today.

A huge Feather in the FNM government cap. It the PLP could have done this with the Princess towers properties sale years ago, freeport today would have still been the magic city that never missed a beat inspite of the hurricanes over the years.

It is obvious that none of you above commenters realize the technical and intricate manpower requirements of a growing naval organization with a military commando component which has a mandate to do the job of other countries Army, Navy, Marines and Air survailance. I am sure the commodore can justify his annual manpower needs assessments for the RBDF which also has a high turnover and early retirements rate and is now required to man expanded bases in Ragged island and Inagua along with expanded assistance to Grand Bahama and Abaco after Dorian.. .
