These statistics are not surprising, we are a happy go, lucky go people who like to party, smoke, drink, Live like the jonese's and flim flam each other. Financial literacy is not thought in the public school system. The majority of Bahamians lack the discipline to pick up and read a book after leaving the school system, i wont mention doing online research to improve their personal financial knowledge. We go in the Banks for loans and max out our pay checks with salary deductions. We put our signature on what ever the Bank manager tells us to sign with out reading the fine print. We try to impress fake friends who 90% of the time we wont see or hair from if we get in dire straights. We want easy money to fall in our laps so we gamble with falls hope. Retirement planning is something we think the government should take care of. We need the latest cell phones, Name Brand this, Name brand that and we let our kids dictate the name brand they want to us.instead of teaching them the value of sacrifice, and we take out loans for vacation parties, and other pleasurable needs and then we seek to consolidate the loans when the depth gets to high and the cycle continues until we reach fifty and the bank say we cannot borrow anymore. Untill we dissipline our selves the percentage us who can't make ends meet will continue to rise.

"Rights Bahamas" should be renamed to "Rights Haitians" .....The principals in that group sure does not have the interest of This country at heart. They anti everything true true Bahamian in this country. We need to pass laws on who or what can use the word Bahamas in their name. Certainly not deceptive groups with take over intentions..

Agreed....i am sure those MP's could get something right and have a design competition at two levels. One for students and one for the professionals.

Parliament can go on the old Ministry of health property just across the road from the general post office. That vertical ceiling law must be done away with if the plan to make Bay street a living city is to be realized.

The Money from Dormant/inactive accounts can go a long way in financing this Building.

Every major City in the world has an **iconic structure** that is known world wide. Some examples that come to mind are the Sidney opera house, The bird nest in china, The Burj al Arab and the Emirate tower two in Dubai. This design with the curved sides reflect or resembles a sail boat and it will represent a status symbol for this island city as a tourist destination especially if located on the present hill top site of the general post office. This biulding will be one of the first land mark tourist see when entering nassau habour. . Never mind the cost, the central bank will finance this independantly of the government. It will be a tourist attraction and green technology used in its construction, this building will be an edifice that will make all Bahamians proud. A Building like this along with our airport design and Baha Nar and Atlantis are establishing this country as a destination like none other especially in the Carribean central america region..
