Maybe some the Dreamers in the tech areas will locate here and start companies here instead of going back to their central and south american countries if Trump have his way ..They are mostly Mellinniial,s who are , tech savy ...Freeport would be a great fit
We have become a consumerism society just like all western countries. The financial discipline it takes to avoid living like the proverbial Joneses family is very hard to attain because of the modern pressures to satisfy relationships, business partners and friends and family. The research that shows that 80% of Americans live from pay check to pay check is higher amongst Bahamians because our average salary in the Bahamas is much lower.and the loan portfolio of the commercial banks can bear witness to this fact. With a population of over 300,000 and a smaller banking population this country has a total loan portfolio (personal and Bussiness) in the hundreds of thousands of accounts with billions owed to those institutions. . Satistics also show that most government employees have breached the 75% salary deduction threshold proving that we a "must have now" generation. The advancment in technology and the need to get the latest eg Iphones and in some cases one for each family member has greatly contributed to the joneses effect. Gone are the days when we only had to worry about a house phone, cooking on the rock oven in the back yard, and riding the horse and buggy. As society modernizes the joneses effect will only increase because no one is willing to live like those monks anymore. Those who do are ostracized and considered homeless or doing bad. The joneses effect is all about percieved status and only one percent of us have truly earned it.
PLP stupidity and cronyism at its best. Bring on the anti curruption bill, Brave is the biggest reason why the PLP will not get in next time ! Bahamians know fool and foolishness when they see and hair it !
This might all just result in the revival of the Banking industry if we can become a world leader in this area.. I can just see all nationalities flocking here with their online crypto activities hopeing for great results. if BISX can pull this off and become a world leader we could be the hong kong of the region
Since it is a electronic digital currency, The owner of the computer infastructure will be mining the currency. Regulation and Security, are two very important issues with these type of currencies because it will be decentralized.
In defence of the good doctor.... he is a free thinker who does his research, I am not saying he is an expert in technology but from the terms used in his presentation i can see he studies world trends and the art of whats is possible for the advancement of the Bahamas economy..Persons like myself with a technical background can easily appreciate his presentation.
The Bahamas must tap into its best minds worldwide to expand its creative economy..Bahamains around the world should be given incentives with the ease of doing business and allowed to partner with foreign nationals and companies with offers of equity stakes in companies that are going to modernize our economy and introduce technology such as blockchain. large communications companies like BTC and Aliv must constantly improve our technology infrastructure and keep it on the cutting edge so that costly upgrades will be avoided when new products are released. local companies in the technological areas should at this stage of the development cycle be seeking to partner with international tech giants to transfom the Bahamas.and further expand the economy.
On the Demand side, when Bahamians see what is happening in other countries, they will demand the latest and whoever is providing the innovative service or product locally will get the new business. Local ICO's will be critical to the success of these new businesses because they will be the monetary currency that can function with the new innovations as we move to a cashless society. Our chances of transformation are much better because of the passage of the Commercial Enterprises Bill and the incentives it provides.
Mitchell and Brave them need to just sit small for the next for years and pray for forgiveness for messing up this country and stop reminding people of the mess every time they ope their mouth an always remember that Lies always backfires.because the electorate has awoken.
