You are absolutely correct.
Unfortunately the 44% of the population tooted by this government as vaxx’d have only received one dose, no second round, and no boosters.

Add this to the fact that the data (of case/mortality rates) is completely useless, the HM was able to keep the rates artificially low by refusing to add any cases or deaths not verified by PCR testing.

It didn’t matter how many positive rapid tests the patient underwent, it didn’t matter if the patient subsequently died.
My son spent heartbreaking hours on the phone with the HM, Doctors and PMH trying to get his “unverified” employees to hospital in time..
. He got one chopped to FL, but the other poor man succumbed before he got off the island. His death could not be “verified” as Covid.

So I daresay there are families throughout the Commonwealth who would caution those saying Covid doesn’t bite.

So the whisperers and rumour mongers are bona fide Tribune sources and the airlines are out to get the Bahamas?
Please! They’re absolutely correct about the government response except in giving this government the benefit of the doubt by saying they missed the point.
They didn’t miss the point, but they are following a custom of puffing themselves up with feigned outrage in an attempt to deflect/delay the truth.
Who knows where all these millions in fees are really going?

And how does one come up with figures in the millions of dollars for amortization and depreciation of facilities and equipment that doesn’t exist??
Psst…several observers have privately suggested it’s taught in the newly created Ministry for Magical Numbers.

So Dan Friedberg, former co-conspirator of the Ultimatebet scandal, employed as the Chief Regulatory Official, that is the person supposed to be protecting consumers/client interests and responsible for all lawful regulations, and information etc etc. is coming to the defense of the Bahamas securities commission et al?
And this newspaper and/or the powers that be think this is a good thing??

So? Talk is cheap, that’s why it’s the politician’s go to currency.

Folks are jumping to conclusions, there’s an ongoing investigation, the injuries to the child could have occurred under the Mother’s care. No one knows at this point

Doesn’t matter how many times they repeat these figures, they still don’t make any sense.
Tell us again where these millions are going because its not for those stated.
I did get a kick from “salaries… personnel, maintenance, utilities, depreciation” etc, millions in costs supposedly from the internal services, which would be what???
Where’s this depreciating equipment hiding?
The computer navigational systems we’re supposedly providing?
And to who is receiving these $$ millions in salaries to run these phantom centers, these ‘internal services”
This might be something Davis &Co will have to show in a lawsuit and that ain’t going to happen!

Chester talks of the 'great deal' the Bahamas is extending to airlines in that their fees are 10% lower than those previously charged by the FAA, ie $56 to $61 per 100N miles.
However the FAA charges $56 for enroute miles (over their land space) whereas the Bahamas is located in their Oceanic section and the fees top out at $26 per100N miles.
So there's that.
And what are they providing for their outrageous fees? Their airspace security, safety and navigational data are all provided by the FAA for a measly $80K that the Bahamas then charges millions.
What's really interesting is their pledge that these millions in fees are set aside solely for the creation of a BANSA that is truly autonomous. Could Davis & Co finally be placed in a position to show and tell?

St Martin and St Thomas attract far less cruise visitors but they’ve always spent more money and without the kitschy ‘attractions’ proposed by Mr Maura and this government.

Nassau has always had issues attracting the sort of visitor intent on spending money here, willing to leave their ship to wade through our chock o block streets.

No number of gaudily clad dancers or steel drum bands can overcome the reports and perception of crime here, on one popular site we’re at level 78 vs St Martin at #28.

None of this is news, so why are we willing to let this government ignore an issue that sacrifices our quality of life? Our ability to capitalize on the benefits tourism can bring?

Municipal and county governments in other developed countries usually require measures to protect motorists when leaving a site for the day.
This usually involves the use of 1” steel plates extending at least 12” from the edge of the excavation, reflective 4” tape on it’s edges, and a reflective sign warning of plates ahead.
Likely there’s a law on the books here too, but we all know there’s neither the will to obey or enforce such laws.
