Conspiracy theories? Hardly. Despite Hartnell’ editorializing about disinformation, who needs to embellish the implosion of the Davis’ government’s DARE Act and/or the myth of Bahamas’ business regulations”? It was pointed out in a previous editorial that there was “no evidence” that Pinder, the SBC, etc etc condoned or permitted an unregulated 25 hour period wherein $100M was looted.
More importantly he fails to point out is there is no evidence that Pinder, Rolle and Maynard-Gibson, etc etc. lifted a finger, sounded an alarm, stopped or answered Bankman-Fried’s statement ‘If I do not hear from you I intend to move forward with distributing monies.
No wonder Ray is aghast, frothing at the mouth that these ‘regulators’, these self proclaimed guardians of the Bahamas’ judicial and financial reputation would have the wherewithal to further stymie justice for investors.
If he gets his meds, is being ‘assessed’ in the medical unit, (one would suspect that a vegan diet won’t prove too difficult for the maters chefs at FXP!!) then he is getting preferential treatment.
This reads like an editorial and yet it’s presented as ‘news’… Simms and PwC have a tough go of maintaining their position and reputation given the illegal grab fest of monies.
I wouldn’t exactly call Pinder’s behavior “hardball”, rather a desperate attempt at smoke/mirrors to hide such a lame excuse, there can be a no harm no foul answer when one is the AG!!
So Sears “misled” ie. lied, Wilson’s not talking and Davis cannot recall?? Bahamian voters need to hold corrupt officials and/or politicians accountable if they ever want their country to be respected, their quality of life restored.
If business and government entities from say, construction, utilities, financial securities or environmental oversight were regulated by a competent government would the Bahamas have earned such a well deserved reputation for systemic corruption? If Bahamians do not care enough about their country to take back their power, hold accountable those they voted into office then editorials such as this are just another example of the self pitying attitude that led us here.
How embarrassing it is to listen to Davis head of a government known chiefly by it’s corruption, stand on the world’s stage pontificating about his people’s “moral purpose” on climate activism. His self aggrandizing speechifying even claimed that other countries had adopted his environmental safeguards/projects! Will wonders never cease? I recall his boasting in these pages about his knowledge of etiquette whilst he trips across the world racking up our debt load, so why then did he so rudely leave well ahead of the end of the speeches?
