So Lord Frederick has told the citizens of Long Island that their hardships are deliberatly brought about because they made the mistake of electing an MP who isn't afraid of him?
My my that is dirty pool...one might even call this Minister's behaviour and the lengths to which his gov't (as he says caused the Island not to flourish) has indulged their petty sense of justice as, well not so much "warlike" as bitchy.
I for one would take a strong Queen who defended and supported those under her watch than someone whose ability to speak out of both sides of his mouth is his only forte.

From a an article April 7th 2015: Mrs Monroe of Grace Avenue Marathon filed an affidavit in support of Cable Bahamas' lawsuit against Rubis in which she stated she met with principal officers of Rubis whereupon she was offered $24,000 to give her house a "face lift" however they insisted she sign a release to indemnify Rubis of any wrongdoing etc. She refused to sign, instead she asked about Rubis' liability to her... Mr. Sarnin the general manger referred her to their company's law firm Higgs and Johnson.

Mr Gallagher I remember when you came to Nasau for the trial to revolve this matter for your family, I do not believe justice was served for your son, it seemed to be a rare commodity at the time and it continues to get worse. I am sorry for your loss. In the Bahamas as you know beaches are public and hotels can only go so far to rid them of nefarious characters who may gain access to the beach or waters on jetskis selling drugs or vendors of services like those who killed your son. I do not think posting lifeguards or security makes any hotel liable or responsible for the actions of such people, rather it says they are attempting to safeguard their guests as best they can. Like you I wish I hope that the Bahamian laws are enforced so tragedies like this do not occur again.

The Brt Colonial won't have this problem as the Chinese own it and will BahaMar in the end. You can't fire key construction mgt team members mid stream and deliver a promised opening date.

Comes down to how many dollars and who gets them: how much $$ does a diver bring to Binini as opposed to a gambler/ tourist coming in on RWB's own ship and spending $$ at their facilities? $$ to RWB = more $$ to gov't and whomever eats at either or both of those troughs.
Worst part is RWB's venture has been predicted in studies to fail which nobody cared about because the gov't have already been paid off to look the other way.
The environment and the people who make their living from it are unfortunately always on the bottom end of this equation, no pun intended -slit wise.

Yes there are two sides to every story, but when one side fabricates the costs per proceduere at such an inflated figure, ie. more than twice the actual cost ie. $50 per animal, ( and to render the goals of the charity unattainable) then obviously we have a failure to level the playing field.
Or is there an implied insistence that one side should ignore what has really been happening in this matter..ie. that is this just the cost of doing business or more unfortunately doing charitible works in the Bahamas?
This problem over ' fee costs' is presented together and muddied with what looks to be a trumped up point of Bahamian pride or nationalism; "local vets still feel the need to send a clear message to our fellow Bahamians, that we are an entity more than capable of managing the difficult task of reducing our strays, and it should be none but our own that assume that responsibility.”
Really, then why havent you all fixed it?
Why haven't these capable and educated professionals come together and risen to the challenge- if only to render the community capable of hearing their "untooted horns"?
Why must there be the continued spectre of literally being 'shown up' by foreign vets to galvinize this ' nationalistic' community?
I believe it is referred to in some circles as putting your money wherein lies your mouth.

For God's sake!
Whose testicles are we talking about here- animals or local vets?
If the VMBA wants to "hijack" Op Potcake fine, go ahead- just get it done; for free,
w/ the volume agreed upon and and leave your ruddy egos at the surgery door.

The answer to crime in the Bahamas has never, ever been equated with how many hours the RBPF works, that is until it became just another political 'stop gap' measure when real solutions brought forward by professionals were discarded by a politically entrenched system that has not given them any no real mandate nor any power to effect crime.
And now another layer of corruption is to be added: a 'goverment run' VAT system, which from all accounts by academics and gov't professionals' published opinions (ie. those who have studied and worked to keep such a system working as orginally intended), have raised the cautionary flags that VAT has only served to increase the level of organized crime in Europe from 15-30%.

Isnt there enough to go around already? .
How can we believe in a judiciary or a police force that regularly allows these crimes to occur with no impunity, which offers no protection to police officers, potential witnesses or the victims of crime?
And which finally in desparation throws in a 12 hour work day 'solution' and expects the public to believe that such a lame off the cuff answer will fix an entrenched system that works so effortlessly -it would appear- to circumvent the laws of this country.

"I hope that Mr Smith will reflect on what he said, accept that the said statements are false and publicly acknowledge this with a full and unqualified apology,” she said.

The Attorney General said that if Mr Smith fails to take advantage of the opportunity to correct the “egregious wrong” that he has committed against her, she reserved the right to take “ further action.”

“The power to take over, continue and discontinue proceedings at any stage before judgment is vested in the attorney general alone, to the exclusion of anyone. In the exercise of the powers conferred upon me, I as the Attorney General am not subject to the discretion or control of any other person or authority.”-Ms Maynard-Gibson

In this particular case whereby one has the benefit of the reading of his own words ( in this publication for example) and the videos of the antics and harm done by Mr Keod Smith, it would appear that anyone would be hard pressed not to bring him up on charges; but to charge the man for whom he has committed battery against?
And then to use one's office to threaten that person for his protests?
And where is the wrong claimed to have been done to the Ag's office? If we cast about for examples of said office's interference with police, in highly charged cases etc. we need look no further than...say to the recent nolle prosequi cases of well connected drug dealers/murderers like Daniel Ayo or former clients gun/drug smugglers George and Janice Hayles whose files might present an embarrassment to this lofty office holder upon presentation in court
I cannot imagine Ms Maynard Gibson in a role of "advising the police", and I do not think Mr Fred Smith presumes to accuse her of such, rather she tells them what to do.
In her own words she is "not subject to control of any persons or authority", yet how do these controversial decisions to come to be made through her hand?
In this society that is a very dangerous challenge to those seeking justice... or to anyone intent on merely pointing out the obvious and the ridiculous.
