Rape and sexual abuse are too common in the Bahamas, so the woman is in jail and the sexual abuser is at large likely continuing to prey on young girls. There is no mention of any limits on his whereabouts, who is protecting the minor child?
“We’re not there yet” is an apt moniker for Davis&Company’s governance every time they come into power. A skin of promises over an ever bulging mass of hot air… The Marijuana Commission’s report was produced under former PM Minnis, as were legislative bills to allow it’s medical use. Work was also completed to ensure those who’d been charged because of personal use, ie. small amount, had the relevant info to go about filing to have their records expunged.
And still we hear “we’re not there yet” on recreational use, get the bill prepared passed for medical use, get on with it! These officials’ gang buds in the business shouldn’t be worried, they’re still in business! Besides y’all will be sure to hand out licenses for growing/selling for medical use go to the ‘right’ people. Right?
One would think that after the last screwup (wherein the court failed to ascertain the most basic information from jurors before they were seated,) that in this case now some five years after the fact, the court would show a stronger commitment to show justice being served!
It seems that justice here seeks to serve only the accused former Supt Collie, and the jurors not only realized such they allowed their opinion of this bias to show. So what now? Collie’s lawyers get another kick at the cat in order to get their poor showing remedied…after five years time??
The next coming announcement will pertain to the hundreds of millions that has already been crony-contracted for such assistance.
Sigh, this “new day” of transparency and responsibility almost makes one long for the old days days of ‘honest’ open corruption, that for which Bahamians’ needs were still served. A rich man’s son might not go to jail for murder, but drug gangs and their toadies didn’t run Ministries and the RBPD…
Ms Curry and her children’s trauma is repeated every day in the Bahamas. Yet each and every day this government does nothing, mocking their fellow citizens for whose interests they were elected to serve.
The recent announcement of their intent to build a $300+ million hospital under the guise of serving the Mothers and children of this country is naught but a vehicle to line their pockets while Bahamians pay for what looks to be another White Elephant. Another tradition here abouts.
If Davis&Company wish to prove their fidelity to Bahamians, have them at least use our supposed ability for our future generations to bear the cost on their corruption upon that which would benefit the women and children of the Bahamas. A publicly funded health and resource center whose sole purpose would be to protect, serve and advocate for their well being within this society; one that cannot function without women and yet expects nothing less than their subservience and silence.
So the Bahamas can support and afford a $290M speciality hospital eh? Not ordinary Bahamians who’ll end up paying for it without stepping a toe inside?
If we can afford to pay off a $300M loan why isn’t this gov’t fulfilling their so called ‘no day’ promises? Ensuring Bahamians have the healthcare that should be their right, isn’t that so??
Does the PM think he can compare the US debt owned by Chinese to our own? Let’s get the facts on the table, America’s GDP in 2022 was $25.44 trillion.
The Bahamas economy's tied to tourism, with one good hurricane away from disaster. Don’t allow this snake any purchase.
Dr Rolle the head of the Bahamas Medical Association made an excellent observation given that neither she or any other hospitalists knew anything of this venture- who will staff a new hospital when there isn’t the nurses, doctors and health technicians to staff Doctors or PMH??
