If Bahamians would begin to show interest and faith in their own infrastructural PPPs and buy shares in each FI project, then we wont have to be looking for FDI that will cause us to be pushed out of owning the infrastructure in our own country ......... Just how China owns the Jamaican roads & bridges and the Jamaican road users have to pay the tolls to the Chinese to travel in their own country for 25-50 years ....... We should have learned from nad & lpia.
PM Ingraham had earmarked 9% of BTC shares to be sold to the public in 2001 .......... What did Perry Christie do with those 9% shares and the other 2% shares that he "got back" from Cable & Wireless????? .......... Were they ever made available for public purchase ....... The Bahamas indirectly owns 51% of BTC, but the foreign company still runs the show......
Where are the financial returns on the Government shares in BTC????

This is not a knock on Harbour Island, Bimini, San Sal, Exuma, or New Providence or any of the other cramped Abaco cays ........... But it is fascinating that those small-sized inhabited islands are more popular than the other bigger, isolated islands (even with Covid) ......... D'Aguilar needs to shift the focus of tourism to the bigger more isolated islands to get more of the share of the tourism pie (Cat Island, Acklins, Andros, Long Island, Inagua etc) ........ What makes a 3 mile cramped island like Briland more popular than Cat Island????? ........... MOT research????
I hope that the Tourism Minister is telling Global Ports & its new set of "home porters" that their predatory methods of starving the on-island side of the cruising industry should not be the MO for the new inter-island cruising trips ........ Will the cruise passengers be spending the usual $50 on trinkets when they go to Exuma, Long Island San Sal or Eleu/Briland etc???
We don't need any of that cheap NP brand of cruise visitors taking root in the Out Islands
