I "hear" and read your comments above .......... but 85% of our tourists come via cruise ships that now have exclusive party islands and put very little into our economy (directly) ......... I agree that 2020 tourism is not 1950 tourism, but the idea of putting the "eggs" in 1 or 2 baskets still remains a serious issue of national concern to grapple with - if we are going to create a more secure & growing economy for true national development. A permanent 242 voters register is a great idea ......... It saves time, money, stationery resources, and manpower hours ........... once first-time voters, dead voters, chronic registeree-but-non-voters, overseas voters, and resettled voters are identified, clearly reassigned to constituencies, printed in hard copy and checked in advance, and ready for any election (local, bye or national) or referendum.

Now the Government needs to figure out HOW to create a National ID card that can be used for general community identification, voting, and access to other Government services

Simply change the "first past the post" election system to a proportional representative system .........Presently, the PLP & FNM politicians set it up from Day One (1973) for them to benefit and not We The People.

Once a party can obtain 5% of the total votes cast, it should earn a seat in Parliament. If that reformed system fails, then it means that the electorate has NO interest in multi-party politics. Proportional representation is based on the counting of the TOTAL number of ballots, and simply not 50%+1 for each constituency winner. This will change HOW politicians treat their leaders and their constituents .......... and how The People will vote for political parties.

Next, institute recall or byelection of lousy MPs if there is a 50%+1 electors' protest vote (supervised by the Parliamentary Commissioner).

The Government needs to offer this "enhanced package" to civil servants who are over 55 OR have been on the job for 30 years ........... Get some of our skilled youth (aged 25-35) in the civil service on 5 year merit contracts and hire senior civil servants on 5 year contracts to coincide with national elections ..... Then you will see changes to the out-dated and inefficient P&P system where people work until they reach 65 or die with NO fear of being fired or NO motivation to have to train staff for succession planning.
