You are quite right .......... but the 242reality is that (most) working class entry level workers tend to remain in that position for most of their working lives ...... if not for a political break, a "deal", or a winning number ......... sad 2019 Bahamian reality ........ Most Bahamian workplaces have real "ceilings" that may be gender, age, colour, surname, nationality, political, or skills-based.
The Bahamian Government should move a law to abolish ALL CBAs in effect now ........... sit down and recalibrate the future employer/employee working environment and laws and start over ......... Every union wants what BPL and BTC unions have ........ and its unsustainable and unrealistic
Minimum wage is fine ......... Living wage is another thing. There is a real $$$$$$ gap between the two. And that is almost impossible to bridge under the present Bahamian tax structure.
As long as the tax structure continues to disproportionately exploit the bottom 80% of the population, the poor will continue to feel the economic pinch in this country.
The post 1992 FNM has done more to assist the poor of this country than the "new PLP" ....... but the "new PLP" uses the poor as a whip from the pre-1967 struggle ..........#Charades
A Bahamian Vote of No Confidence in Parliament is designed to have the same impact as the Impeachment in Congress against Trump. It is meant to affect the swing voters at the next election. ............ But the PLP track record was so bad last term that it is hard to run on that.
URCA is just another layer in the web of do-nothingness and blame-lining. The poor service of BPL, CBL and BTC should have been arrested long time ago .......... Another toothless Agency, like all of these new Minnis trappings
