The dollar value of the Bahamian National Debt is not as critical as the dwindling FX reserves, shrinking consumer spending power and increasing cost of living ......... coupled with the untold leakage of Haitian remittances and unaccounted Government graft and kickbacks.
Mr Lloyd was not AWOL or MIA ................. A Long Islander, he was in Long Island touring its public schools ...... a place where there is still a glimmer of hope for public education.

Most public school parents do not really KNOW or CARE about what happens behind the gates of Junior or Senior Public High Schools ......... They may show up when there is a report card to collect or when their child is suspended from school. Many do not ensure that their children are equipped to succeed in school. Many do not know the names of their children's teachers or school administrators.
Mostly well-trained teachers teach at school .......... but mostly dysfunctional parents do not know how to parent at home.
Herein lies the bulk of the problems in the education system (minus the physical state of many schools).
Will this NIB dispute ignite the wider unrest waiting to be unleashed by at least FIVE civil service unions????? ............ I bet they are watching how this plays out with Brensil Rolle.
Herein lies our problem. A funded, professionally produced NDP with credible research and statistics .......... thrown to the side for cheap political gimmicks after 2017.
And Simms is 100% correct about the Old Guard civil service with 35+ years of running the Departments with their colonial mindset .......... The FNM should have cleaned house in 2017, but they seem not to appreciate the depth of the malaise in our Government superstructure.
