That suggestion about mobile pump & tank trucks can be instituted by the Local Government departments themselves ............ Flatbeds with 2000 gallon tank and pump, we don't need the red trucks with bells and whistles .................. hydrants for what??? ........ Just go to the main pumping station ......... We want too much fancy things and we broke ..... So who is Perswell complaining too????? .............. He has been the MP for 15 years or more ........ SMT.

BPL has ancient equipment .......... because the ancient workers want too much money for their mediocre work ethic ....... and the ancient politicians won't properly reform BPL to make it a modern viable company. The workers are holding on to this old dinosaur to leech the Treasury.

The Editor hit a home run with this one .......... the Unions want to force employers (including the Government) to comply with their unreasonable requests ......... But the Union members are kept in the dark (for the most part) about what happens to their union dues ........ SMH.

Most of these Union executives should be audited and prosecuted for blowing millions of their members' dues on internal business conflicts .......... especially the teachers and hotel unions.

If this was a Local Government office, then who knows whether this place was up to building code etc. ........ Central Government does not build LG offices ........ This could have been an old school or something else ........ Need more facts before you jump to conclusions about these Out Island building fires ........... Very little Govt oversight and inspections take place out here.

Just look at Ragged Island hurricane damages ............... Govt getting blame for crappy buildings built to no standards, with little inspections or codes. Despite every island having a Commissioner, Dept heads, and LG Boards ........ But little accountability - top to bottom.

For Creole Fred to get this political change ........... we must amend our Constitution to make our Parliament an elected bi-cameral institution, **based on proportional representation** .......... then a Third Force will be guaranteed seats in both Houses of Parliament, based on a threshold (let's say of 5%) of the percentage of the total votes cast. If we had that in 2012, the DNA would have been entitled to 13% of the seats in Parliament. Our present one constituency, one MP, first past the post system is what is killing political reform in this small Third World country.

These "bougie Nassau people" wasting taxpayers' money while many islands do not even have a tennis court or a teacher/instructor ......... But they proud to say they represent The Bahamas.

This holiday debacle proves that the domestic charter providers (Western, Southern, Sky etc.) need to step up and take over the Out Island routes and free up Bahamasair to bring tourists to the country ...... Bahamasair cannot provide reliable cost-effective Out Island service anymore ......... they are canceling and missing whole days to some islands thus causing increased need for vouchers and travelers' inconvenience & costs.

The Government will do better with an airlift subsidy system to private carriers ........ like the mailboats.

Or the Bahamian doctors trained in Cuba ...... not hired, but the Government import Cuban doctors.

Whoever is running the Bahamas Medical Association???? ...... Bigots.
