Despite having 3000 members paying $52.50 per member per month (almost $2 million per year), they are still fighting among themselves for who will control the "cookie jar" ........ That is why the MOE can get away with all of this mess in the public school system ....... and the Principals' Union is a toothless tiger as well ............ Parents do not check ......... God help the children
Local Government is not antiquated nor outdated nor unnecessary ......... It is hamstrung by the Nassaucentric Central Government ............. Power of the Purse been around from Woodes Rogers .......... Just make Real Property taxes mandatory for ALL islands and let the LG keep those taxes for capital development ........... We are presently colonies of Nassau.
Women dominate mostly low level clerical and hotel jobs ........ Men dominate mostly technical and fishing jobs ......... Among the unprofessional class of workers that make up the majority of Bahamian work-force, men make far more money (per capita income) .......... But, that doesn't make it sexist.
Nassau subsidizes almost every facet of Out Island life .......... utilities, education, healthcare, security, airlift, mailboats, Govt jobs, allowances & incentives, Local Government etc .......... and these people do not like to pay taxes at all.......... Its a two-edged sword.
