Bell is Minister of Immigration, but he spent most of his TWO hours speaking to issues that were NOT connected to his Ministry ...... The Cruise Port & HMBS Arthur Hanna.
His record as MOI is amongst the WORST of the Cabinet. Illegals are running rampant in this country and there is NO plan to solve the pressing issues facing MOI.
So, why was he allowed to waste our time & not account for his Ministry???
In the United States, there is 1.7 jobs for every unemployed American. Yet tens of thousands of migrants flock to the USA every year in search of jobs and do find jobs.
What is the parallel statistic for The Bahamas???? ......... Are there more jobs available than there are Bahamians who are actually actively seeking jobs???
The largest number of illegal immigrant Haitians (at least 40,000) who reside in a caricom country can be found in The Bahamas in at least 40 major shanty towns ............ What is our PM doing about this indecent situation???????
Instead of the "New Day government" led by Gravy Davis try and solve this indecent problem, he prefers to jet set around the world begging for "green cash" while our Bahamian environment continues to deteriorate from illegal slums, human filth, and deforestation due to illegal mining and charcoal burning.
Heavy rainfall and flooding happened in Long Island as well. But there is no mention of a national response to ALL affected islands by this Government. Where is the new NEMA??
So are these DF resources only something that a PLP DPM has access to? Hmmmmm
We would have thought that the $60 million spent on Exuma infrastructure since September 2021 would have solved most of Exuma's road flooding & drainage problems.
Sounds like nothing much has changed. Only more money spent ....... #Waste
When someone sees Chester, tell him for me that Calypso Cove in Long Island was touted as the next best thing for Long Island ....... But the guy who calls himself the "investor" ain't gat one red cent to start it.
So, GB ppl don't waste your time listening to Chester dem.
Just cut out half of the bloated administration costs, collect more self employed ppl contributions, get better investment opportunities, and scale back on benefits that are draining the fund.
Why should the ppl pay more for the failings of the NIB top brass bad decisions???
The Government needs to purchase the derelict parts of Downtown between East Street, the seashore and Shirley Street ....... set up PPP, and build a series of (at least five-storey) condomiums for those who wish to live there ............. along with creating a shorefront shopping district to join the Cruise Port to Sidney Poitier Bridge
There are many urban downtown models to choose from. But, something has to change soon.
The modern majority-black Bahamian politicians know exactly what they are doing ......... They are simply mimicking what the Bay Street Boys (led by Pop & Sands) did prior to 1967.
Nothing much has really fundamentally changed in the Bahamian socio-economic makeup since 1967 ......... only the colour of the faces of the leaders.
We still have the same tax regime + VAT .............. we still have oil monopolies + FOCOL ........ we still have the regressive tax structure + more NIB fees to come.
Healthcare, education and crime continue to be our major challenges + billions of debt.
The citizens (per constituency) do not know, see, or hear their MPs explain (in Budget Debates) where the constituency allowance(s) is spent now ....... so, who will account for the extra spending (50K) that just seems to disappear into PEPs pockets???
With NO accountability or ethical standards in place for MPs to account for the free spending of the Treasury's dollars today, It will be "more of the same" for the next round of freebees
