Every holiday cost employers extra millions. The PLP should think about that. But they're too ego-centric and full of pomp. Ten holidays were quite enough.
The present Bahamian dilemma is that there are no real differences between HOW the October holiday is observed as opposed to the January holiday.
We were uniquely placed to benefit from the Encounter Day holiday and using it as a marketing tool to build our European tourism brand with the Columbian exchange. Sadly, we allowed "black wokeness" to get in the way.
Until that difference is clearly identified, it is Heroes 1.0 and Heroes 2.0, because we are celebrating the same PLP personalities over and over again. It goes to show the excessive ego trip that the PLP leaders are engaged in.
The PLP will never shake the ghost of SLOP and the Pindlings will always view ppl like Fred Mitchell as an imposter.
Mitchell has a knack for making these faux pilgrimages. He comes to Long Island trying to resurrect HM Taylor every year as well. We take it as a bad joke.
Will the Bahamian PLP Government send IOUs to the US courts for the funds that they probably instructed SBF to dole out to these NGOs (like Singing Bishop etc) that were cozy with Brave and Allyson dem??????
The NGOs are saying that "the money done gone" ...................... LOL
So, why has BNT not said a word about Calypso Cove building a cruise port on top of the largest grouper schooling site in the Caribbean off Southend, Long Island???
Eric Carey made all kind of noise when it came to Disney in south Eleuthera ........ But he was quiet when it came to south Long Island.
Wonder why??? Where is the voice of the new BNT boss???
Our Bahamian governments (PLP & FNM) have bent over backwards to facilitate the crumbs (jobs) from BIG business (the foreign investors). These FDIs are given millions/billions of dollars of tax exemptions and even owe our utility companies. When the Govt puts pressure on them, they threaten to fire/layoff the workers, downsize operations, stop funding charities, or leave the country. Then the Govt gives even MORE exemptions.
But the same 242 government goes out of its way to squeeze its own SMEs and large local companies with more business license fees, environmental fees, real property taxes, VAT on VAT, fixed markups, customs duties, stamp tax, excise tax, minimum wage increases, NIB increases, BPL increases etc, etc, etc. .............and still they want these companies to donate to charities, schools, churches etc. When the companies complain or stand up for their rights, they get blackballed and sadly, many go out of business (except the highly favoured/connected) .......... that is how business life goes in the 242

No apology is necessary ............ the Pindlings, Fweddy, and the PLP just need to disappear from the country.
They have done sufficient damage to the reputation and wealth of this country (in the name of Independence).

Eric Carey has done well.
But he took BNT from being in the grips of foreigners to being at the beck & call of our politicians.
BNT now heavily relies on Govt funding, so is it independent enough to stand up to the "deals" that compromise the environment?
BNT raised hell in Eleuthera (Carey's hometown), but has said nothing about Calypso Cove in Long Island.
We will watch and see what his successor says and does.

Has Brave made a secret deal with HW/FCP to pay those workers from Government funds?
It is interesting when we hear about swift intervention aka "deals" been made between politicians and BIG Business.
