Why was Mr Turnquest a "business partner" anyway? Could it be for his expertise in aviation or for his connections? Doing business in the Bahamas is easier when you have a hgh-ranking official on your side.
Given the state of government IT this survey website will be more down than up, and anyway, who will be checking and updating when visitor or resident leaves the islands? Oh, yes, of course, we could just give them all an ankle bracelet. One of those that dogs have, where you can give them a buzz when they haven't done their survey yet. Silly thinking again, not everything can be solved by a website or prison threats. Without having a real plan everything comes down to this kind of jerky reactions, going from one bad idea to the next.
Meanwhile on the COvid-19 webpage of the OPM the most recent dashboard is Sept 8th and the National address is May 10th. So hard for government (employees) to maintain even a little webpage with some consistency. No wonder their buildings are all crumbling and rotting.
It would be nice to know what the real cause was, for once. There are hundreds (thousands?) of IT professionals in the country who are interested to hear what went wrong, if only for their own learning purposes. It is so easy to demo a flashy little app to a group of black-suited gullible managers who don't know how to ask the right questions. It is a little harder to build the agile, scalable and highly available infrastructure to run it for 50.000 students.
"This company official said they did not report the matter to police". Typical look-away behavior, afraid of their own reputation. Doesn't matter, everybody will know within 24 hours anyway.
Other countries have already begun ordering big batches of (future) vaccines with the pharma companies that have promising developments. Shouldn't our MoH be doing the same?
Police share firearms?!?!? I doubt if even the criminals do that.
