I use to thing that it was racial, but if you look deeper at it one would see that just maybe it could be other reasons. First, I love my Haitian brothers, however, most Haitians that goes to the U.S on a boat isn't that educated due to the fact of what is going on in Haiti, and on the second hand a lot of those Cubans that goes have undergrads, advance degrees, excel in athletics, music, etc. So if you look at it, a lot of them can help the U.S immediately. A lot of the Haitians go on to have productive live in the U.S by educating themselves and bieng outstanding citizens, but even that will be a strain on a countries resources to get them to that stage.
I too live in the U.S, don't think for a moment that the U.S and other major countries don't cheat on their crime rate and Aids rate. However, I don't think it is close to the Bahamas rates though. Another point that you guys didn't touch on is the fact that house breaking isn't as high in the U.S is because guns are legal in the U.S, so criminals have something to fear.
Maybe you guys heard the whole interview, because I think this is a case of a newspaper trying make a story out of nothing. I really don't think the preacherman or the community could have been that foolish to think that the government owe them something or, could possibly think about going back home.
His actions only prove what is wrong with democracy, haven't you notice that in every democratic country the opposition disagree with the government in almost everything? I admit that it is wrong, however, he is only doing what the PLP did while the FNM was in power and what the Republican was and still is doing in the United States.
