That's an interesting point about NIB payments though, for whoever will be responsible there should be stiffer penalties. There have been too many poor unsuspecting private sector workers who have their NIB payments taken out of their salaries and all the while their employers paid NIB nothing.

We as a country have to put an END to all this stealing. Thieves at ANY level need to be dealt with. Workers, I encourage you to visit NIB and request a letter stating that your payments are up-to-date. However, in these modern times why can't all employees be able to check this information online? It's just like the International Observers said about the *advanced poll*, why are we LAST in the region for voters to be able to login and check online to see if their names are on the register rather than standing hours in the sun?

Unless you have the highest degree in Education your comment would be considered somewhat baseless.
While having a graduate degree (in any field really) is not the panacea for ALL ills, it exposes education practitioners to researched methods that have been successful on a global scale.

Undergraduate degrees really do not provide this type of scholarly research and empirical evidence which somewhat leaves practitioners hypothesizing on appropriate pedagogy apposite to learner's needs, especially in developing nations.

A very many of those sitting up in the Department of Education (DOE) Mr. Lloyd are just there to collect their paycheck and increase their pension.

It's time to do some weeding out. Those who need to retire (force them) and make everyone at DOE accountable because you will find that they don't care much about what's actually happening in the schools (much less the classrooms).
It's time to bring better educated modern thinkers to bring new ideas and a commitment to improving education that has been lacking for decades.
Some sitting there don't even have a degree in education (or just a very basic one) and because they have been there forever they believe this entitles them to positions of seniority.
We need to stop that foolishness and let qualified people serve in those positions.

Ummm... I think we need to give PM Minnis a chance to perform before trying to tell what not to do. There's no need to get preachy *before* there's something to preach about.
Let's wait and see what the PM will offer. I for one, will give him the benefit of the doubt and look for positive things unless otherwise shown.

As long as Carl Bethel *isn't* Minister of Finance, I can live with that. His performance in his former posts has left a lot to be desired (esp. Education - truly deplorable).
I have a lot of respect for PM Minnis not choosing to be Finance Minister. His approach so far is commendable.

If Hon. Jeff Lloyd is to be Education Minister, I do hope he consults with Hon. Bannister because Bannister did an excellent job in that post (unlike the horrible job Fitzgerald did - only wanting photo ops and a truly arrogant approach, listening to no one).
Congrats Dr. Minnis, looking forward to see what you will offer next.

DEDDIE you are so right. Many of these very same Tribune bloggers threw Minnis under the Bus on more than one occasion. I never liked LBT. If you resign at the FNM convention after seeing your lack of support for leader. How you gonna turn around and oust the leader that the majority of the delegates supported. Those type of underhanded maneuvers are what got her exactly where she is now - Eating Crow!

Congratulations to the newly elected governing party. I am most grateful that it was a peaceful election process. The people have spoken.

Well-mudda I agree with you wholeheartedly. Why do both parties act like their hands are so clean? I personally, will be voting for the candidate, 'chips' will fall where they may. Very Well Said!

Shameful. This should never happen in a "so-called" modern society!
