licks2, I will not question your professionalism with respect to analysis and examinations of objects. But would I would genuinely like for you to do is to explain why the report is "woefully wanting" and "asinine"(sic) and why do you "cry shame for this yard chicken approach?" Instead of engaging in high school, nay, primary school name calling, can you please educate us on what exactly was wrong with Mr. McIntosh's report? This is a critical issue and, if you have something substantive and indeed some expertise on this issue, please educate people like me who are genuinely trying to ascertain what is happening. This is a better suggestion that name calling, is it not?
So, what are you suggesting is that we, Bahamians, are so obtuse that we vote based on what the PLP did back in 2002? Nonsense! Oh, and by the way, let us put petty politics aside, the 2002 referendum deserved to fail - not because of anything the PLP did, but rather the process was convoluted and the government of the day (read: Hubert Ingraham) was so arrogant that he thought the FNM could do no wrong and, by merely presenting any slapdash nonsense to the Bahamian people, it would pass. He was taught a very needed lesson in humility. So, no, sheeprunner, the referendum process has not been hijacked, that's just silly to suggest that.
Clamshell, in no way am I trying to call you a bad name, but man, I don't believe you...that never happened as you described it. We (Bahamas) are not that bad...are we?
Because he deserved a military funeral EasternGate! That was not charity on behalf of the government. A fallen soldier deserves the honour of a military funeral.
Would the good journalist, Riel, perhaps care to advise the reader just who her deceased father is? Seems pertinent to this article seeing that the exemplary young lady is saddened that her father was not there to witness her wonderful accomplishment. Or, for that matter, let us know who her mother is. "Who, what, when, where, why, how"...journalism, as is most things of value in The Bahamas, is very much dead.
Disagree, Economist. And, I understand that Tribune message board in not the best place for a nuanced discussion on immigration but, you can't regularize an illegal act - which by the way is what most (not all) of the undocumented immigrants have committed. Human beings that arrived here illegally should not be gifted with a pardon for said illegal act. Is that not the same thing we did with the "numbers" boys? Pardoned an illegal act. And, judging by the comments on this board from Muddasick, et. al, that act did not go over well with the Bahamian people.
