Maxine Waters can go jump in the harbour! What can she do that our own homegrown lunatics and radical priests haven't suggested already? Preserve our Heritage by sanitizing all portions of our history that doesn't conform with the BLM zealots. Does this mean we should also remove the statues of our black patriots like Sir Milo and Pindling because some of the white people don't like them? Where does the stupidity stop?
Y'all ain't nothing more than a bunch of damned black crabs. You would rather see our heritage sites continue to decay and crumble before allowing a private group of bahamians to restore them from the public latrines and garbage receptacles which they have become and develop a working plan for them. Yes, there will be some profit in it for them, but you first have to spend money, which the government doesn't have any of, to make money. Heritage sites the world over are privately run and maintained in this fashion which is why this is needed here, private investors unlike governments tend to look after their investments. Don't let there be a couple of white folks in the group, all you'll hear is hollering then, Toby Smith and the Hog island lighthouse a typical case in point!
So you're suggesting that the taxpayers should be draped with yet another financial albatross because neither a PLP nor FNM government has the balls to go after the developers and hold them responsible for correcting the problem? Nor have I heard of the Sunshine Group declaring bankruptcy anytime recently. Looks like the Tribune no longer has the balls to call a spade a spade any longer either.
I have no issue with Mr. Rahming standing up for his constituents, that's his job, just send the bill to the one that owes the debt and that's Frankie, not the people!
@John, I don't agree with tribanon on much of anything, but in this he/she is correct. Pinewood Gardens was/is a private development with the developers pocketing all of the proceeds from the land sales and who should also be responsible for correcting the flooding and drainage problems in THEIR subdivision, not the taxpayer nor the government. Higher houses won't force water anywhere as it finds the lowest level which is ground level, a higher foundation might keep them above water but the water ain't going anywhere. I suppose you would also expect the government or taxpayers to make good any structural or plumbing deficiencies by your private contractor in your own home too?
"Lines of cars crowded the streets outside the Thomas A Robinson from as soon as they could travel without breaking the curfew."
All that notwithstanding, and I don't doubt for one minute that many of these people are truly in need, I still have to wonder how many of them are simply taking advantage of The Free Lunch that Bahamians love so much.
I happened to go to Kelly's Home Centre on the weekend, the parking lot was overflowing as was the store, Bahamians shopping by the score but everybody broke.
So much for austerity measures and rainy days.....................
Get used to it Mr. Darville. The problem exists on just about every inhabited island in the archipelago, I have travelled to most of them. Cleanliness is next to Godliness must have gotten lost along with all the other values Bahamians have lost or misplaced over the last fifty years.
Lol, not content with bending, or mashing up as the PM would say, the props on multiple boats they now tearing the wings and undercarriage off their aircraft as well.
