There you go Joe, the same myopic view one gets looking through those rose colored glasses.
I wasn’t referring to skin color in response to your remarks , rather to the mixed pigments on your palette when you painted our flag.

themessenger says...

Are you truly that color blind Joe or is it those rose colored glasses that you and so many other Bahamians seem to prefer?

The “urgent” debate on racism in the Bahamas has already started with the consensus being , at the moment at least, to sanitize our pre majority rule history, tear down historical statues and replace them with statues of corruption tainted political figures from our post Colonial history which will only serve to further alienate the minority white Bahamian population who were conveniently excluded from our flag at Independence.
In a country where the population is 85% black some consideration has to be given to the very real problem of reverse discrimination, justifiable in part, but after half a century of black rule we should have long ago buried those bones and moved on, maybe not upwwards but at least on the level.

Lady, you’re lost at sea! Just so you know, Sidney Brown was Roberts’s father, Donald, Sidneys brother, was Roberts’s uncle, both sadly deceased for many years now.
OMC was purchased some years ago by Bombardier and is still producing engines under the Evinrude name brand, the E-Tech series their latest product.

The only people who get angry when the police shoot them are the ones who shelter and support them also profiting from their ill gotten and often blood drenched gains. Personally, I shed few tears when I kill a cockroach or a rat.

Especially as many of his constituents still have a tarp over their roof, you ain see bey only some people could afford shingles.

Birdie dear, you have to pay money for shares in anything, something Bahamians, on the whole, don't like to do as free lunch is more in our line.
Not only that, when you buy shares you're speculating that what you're buying into might actual turn a profit at some stage otherwise dog eat your lunch.
Now us natives we prefer to invest our money in different tings, such as rum, dope, numbers and anyting leave over afta dat going in da hairy bank.

Does this woman honestly believe that moving white man Columbus white statue from where it has stood for the last couple hundred years is going to empower or change in any way the situation of black Bahamians, or eradicate racism by stirring up further needless resentment among the more ignorant of our people?
She would be better turning her literary talents into explaining why after half a century of black majority rule we still have to lean on the old crutch of the white boogie man to explain our numerous failings during that period. Is our current system of governance any less useless than our continued allegiance to the Queen and Commonwealth?
I suggest we replace Columbus statue with one of the Father of The Nation, a man who ruthlessly crushed anyone, black or white, who stood in his way. A man who lifted us to the pinnacle of Black Majority Rule only to later plunge us into the pit of corruption, drug abuse, crime and poverty that our country has become today.
How do you intend to address and change that Ms. Wallace?

@moncurcool,
I don’t agree with a lot of what you post and I’m certainly not a rabid government supporter.
However, I do agree with you that the government is not responsible for repairing or replacing private property damaged by hurricanes, or any other disaster for that matter, regardless of what McAlpine and Chester Cooper may think. Once the genie is out of that bottle it will never go back in.
McAlpine is nothing more than another Bodie like political prostitute who changes aisles and asses to kiss more often than most people change underwear, PLP yesterday, FNM today, who knows what tomorrow.
Bodie, everyone knows you’re Brave’s number one fart catcher but be careful McAlpine don’t sneak you.

themessenger says...

I gotta tell you DDK, be careful what you wish for, you might get it! While the FNM have made many missteps the PLP as they're currently structured and led are not a viable alternative, but ultimately, it comes down to the lesser of two weevils.
