Not only giving away houses but government contracts too. I am sure that Sir Snake's company being awarded the contract was simply coincidental after all what could be more open than the governments public tenders?
As usual the party stalwarts get the bread the rest of us the crumbs.............

themessenger says...

What else do you expect with a fish and conch market right next to the public swimming area.
The vendors throw fish guts and conch slop overboard there every day and sharks and other marine life are naturally attracted by this. Where else in the world would a government situate a fish market immediately adjacent to a public beach? Only in the Bahamas!!
The next step of course will be to kill the sharks, go figure.........

Congratulations to Mrs.Bethel on her appointment. It must take a special kind of courage for a Bahamian woman to serve on that particular committee given the results of the recent referendum on precisely those issues.

themessenger says...

If the referendum result showed the level of discontent & distrust the Bahamian people have for our government then these statistics show the level of distrust the rest of the world holds them in.

On Bahamas suffers 76% FDI fall-off

I wonder why they didn't come up with this idea when Miller and Brave was running things?
But then its always easier to give away other peoples money..........

BPL obviously bought a pig in a poke and didn't see the flies or smell the odor until they were past knee deep. They might be managing the show but do they have any of their own technical people on the ground or are they at the mercy of Mr. Maynard and his minions?
The unions in BEC have been a major part of the corporations free fall and free for all for years.

themessenger says...

There is and old saying"You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear"
BPL shareholders must be kicking themselves for getting in bed with the clusterF$%& that is BEC and the Bahamas government. These people haven't even had a chance to get their feet on the ground and the detractors and armchair electrical geniuses are twisting the knife. If any of you had ever seen the state of the equipment at Clifton Power station you would be asking yourselves how we had any power at all. The new managers have to work with what they have inherited until they can see their way forward and this means money, and lots of it.
The rate reduction bond we the people will have to foot the bill for as a result of BEC's $600 million years of mismanagement and political interference will finance some of it but it won't be nearly enough so get used to the idea of rate increases coming soon and power cuts as usual until BPL can afford a big enough bandage to stem the hemorrhaging and a big enough shovel to move the shit.
