Since when has it not been the legal right of a private property owner to erect a fence, wall or any other edifice for that matter on their property? Since when has it become the illegal right of non licensed vendors or any other individuals for that matter to destroy, deface or vandalize said private property? I don't suppose for one moment that you would have any problem with people traversing your property on a daily basis and leaving their various offerings for you to dispose of in their wake? You probably wouldn't object to them breaking down your walls either to make their access a little easier would you? Where did I ever get the idea that you were a reasonably intelligent individual?
Fellow Bahamians, by voting no we are only continuing to disenfranchise our wives, daughters and grandchildren. What we need is an overwhelming YES vote in the referendum and a resounding NO vote for the PLP come election or will you not bother to vote on that matter either?
The proliferation of illegal signage, booths and street hawkers has become epidemic under both this and the previous government. Zoning laws are completely ignored as night clubs, bars and numbers houses are allowed to exist with impunity cheek to jowl with residences and schools while complaints of noise pollution and littering are for the most part ignored by the relevant authorities. This beach vendor situation is no different as slackness is so ingrained in our society that the attitude is if its good for me what does it matter if its illegal. The fact that our leaders are leading the charge only further fans the flames, Nassau now burning out of control.
I'll say it again. Every time I think that the level of ignorance in this country can sink no lower my people always manage to surprise me. If this attitude isn't the clearest indicator of disrespect for and dismissal of our women then what the hell is??
Homey, you think that selling junk, knock off shit and dope to the tourists is the kind of entrepreneurial progress we need to advance as a people? You mussy got foreign roach on ya bread the way you is carry on about the foreigners our very survival depends on. Could be das why you on dat same beach countin sand now.
Birdie the beach BELOW the high water mark is considered public, that property above it is private and neither PLP FNM nor DNA can give access across private property unless they acquire it by legal means, ie pay for it. Unfortunately politicians all seem to suffer from that disease of putting mouth in motion before putting brain in gear.
There is another beach access half a mile to the east which many locals use,and which coincidentally, is adjacent to yet another resort property. These owners haven't made an issue of it yet because most of us that use this access are there to enjoy the beach and the water, not to harass their guests into buying junk or other products that they don't want. It now means that the vendors will have to trudge the extra mile to flog their trinkets and products at Riu and Atlantis which they are loath to do and which will no doubt result in this access being closed to the rest of us should they take their bad ways down there.
Minnis and Branville obviously think that the way to begin fixing the crime problem is to condone the vandalism and destruction of private property in order to score a couple of cheap political brownie points. Any person who could support and encourage the destruction of private property or vandalism of any form should be viewed as unstable and not fit for public office period never mind the Office of the Prime Minister.

Outstanding indeed, let us hope and pray that the "cultural uniqueness" of our people doesn't once again derail the process.
