The Building Dept is a broken system mired in corruption and inability to keep up. Architects should be allowed to sign off on buildings and control the process to Building code standards. The only thing then needed is a stamp from Building Control to commence based on engineered drawings. Any Architects found cutting corners lose their license. Done.
Condolences to his family. A great loss to our Nation. Richard was an avid supporter of renewable energy systems and wanted to to be up to date on the latest technology. He was a great listener which made him very wise and a person worth listening to.
If Dorian traversed New Providence? We need to spend a lot of time studying this real possibility and make the best plans we can. The decimation of our nations capital should keep leaders and business people up at night working on best solutions. Anything is possible next year and we can't ignore realities. Mass Evacuation via cruise ship, Water, Safety, Power, Emergency supplies, Heavy equipment on high ground.
How did the electricity consumer become responsible for the mismanagement and corruption at BEC? What if the consumers agreed with one voice and said NO we will not pay the new interest tax? Would BEC shut the nation down? But we are a passive people that don't stand up to injustice... so let's suck our teet anew and pay the new tax on behalf of those who stole the money and mismanaged the public company. To the degree we don't stand up...we by choice bend over and take it....once again. Our passivity keeps us enslaved to fear, resulting in abuse by corrupted public servants. In ten years we will tell the same story again.
Pass a law where all Public servants get a Rate Reduction Pension Plan equal to their ministrys debt divided by the number of red plate vehicles in the parking lot as a payroll deduction to an independent Treasury account owned by a co-op of bill paying citizens?
Solar is "too expensive" they say. If your bec bill averages $500 per month you hand over $30,000 every 5 years and either spend extra on generator fuel or sit in darkness.. $1000 per month is $60,000.00 over 5 years. You can either pay the utility or pay yourself. You can choose to be a victim or chose to be a producer of your own essential resources or wait for the government to take care of you in a substandard manner and hope for change.
