The Who's Who of The Lyford Cay Community are all giddy as they ready themselves for this Royal visit. But some of them are asking: "Do we really have to stomach the presence of the likes of Mitchell, Davis and Cooper at the social events we plan to hold in our gated community for William and Kate?" LOL
One thing is for sure, Davis and Cooper have shortened their polical careers by appointing the very corrupt Darville as minister of health. And the longer Darville remains minister of heath, the shorter the political careers of Davis and Cooper will become. LOL
Government imposed price controls are seldom a good long term solution to concerns about the effects of runaway inflation on food costs.
What government really needs to do is:
(1) Introduce price controls on the outrageous transportation, handling and other costs incurred at the ports on food imports that are greatly enriching the privileged families that have a controlling ownership stake in the ports, and
(2) reduce most of the barriers that exist to increased competition in both the wholesaling and retailing of food.
The corrupt Davis and Cooper led PLP administration has no interest in developing a food policy to addresses the fact that too many poor and downtrodden Bahamians have no meat and vegetables in their diet. And that's because Davis and Cooper are much too busy formulating a policy that will encourage all arable land in The Bahamas be reserved for their administration's favourite cash crop - marijuana.
