> “An alternative solution would be to simply shred government spending to the point that it matches the current level of revenue. It is evident that such an approach would readily have severe and deleterious effects on Bahamian society, in terms of access to vital government programmes and services such as health care and education, to name only two..... Quite obviously, simple solutions are to be eschewed.”
Dumb-arse Davis doesn't have a clue how to go about growing the private sector tax base and creating prosperity for the Bahamian people because he firmly believes in his small, twisted and feeble mind that government is the answer to everything, especially job growth.
His alternative solution above is now his government's only solution. The private sector tax base continues to shrink, and water cannot be had from a stone. Most Bahamians today simply don't have the ability to pay any more taxes. Frankly they must now try evade paying taxes so they can at least buy a little food for themselves and their loved ones.
Meanwhile dumb-arse Davis continues to grow the size of government every which way he possibly can while refusing to cut his own frothy travel budget, not to mention Fwreddy Boy's exorbitant globe-trotting costs. The proverbial shiit has already hit the fan and blown back all over the dumb-arse Davis's face. He just doesn't realize it yet.
And just wait until his spendthrift 'full of hot air' government goes to market to try 'roll' that huge block of foreign currency denominated government bonds due to mature real soon. At that point dumb-arse Davis will be running around like a crazy squawking chicken that has just had its head chopped-off.
With CFAL having absolute control of the Bahamas Investment Fund (BIF), there will be no fair sharing of wealth creation, but I strongly suspect you already know that. I also suspect many Bahamians who thought they would be investing directly in NCP were quite surprised to learn that they would actually be investing in the BIF, a vehicle that was created by CFAL with Tyrant Minnis's consent at the time he blessed the port project. A big cheque must have gone Tyrant Minnis's way as an election campaign contribution. LOL
The BIF currently owns 49% of NCP but may eventually hold any number of other investments, all of which would generate loads of fee income for CFAL, with CFAL having no fiduciary obligation to pay an investor returns based on the performance of any particular underlying investment held by the BIF, including its 49% stake in NCP.
The smart money carefully read the BIF's Offering Prospectus and quickly realized the whole thing was structured to be a "smashing success" for CFAL but not the investor. As the saying goes, a fool and their money are all too easily parted.
You even sound like the very corrupt Anthony Ferguson. Any investor in NCP through the CFAL controlled Bahamas Investment Fund is going to be razored to death by every kind of fee that the CFAL group can possibly think of. LMAO
Why does The Tribune persist in defending the blight brought to our small nation and the Bahamian people by an overwhelming invasive force of illegal Haitian aliens and their offspring?
We have 50,000+ persons of Haitian descent living on New Providence and probably more than 80,000+ throughout all The Bahamas. Those facts should strike the very fear of God in most Bahamians when it comes to understanding what their future and the future of their children and grandchildren is likely to be as second-class citizens in their own country.
The Tribune's owners and editorial staff must be looking forward to the day when most of the news stories and other articles they publish will be in Creole rather than English.
