This wreaks of having all along been nothing but a bait and switch transaction in which control of the Nassau Cruise Port would end up in the hands of MSC.

Under no circumstance should the corrupt Turkish principals behind GPH and Michael Maura be allowed to profiteer from GPH selling to an undesirable third party (MSC) the enormously generous concessions (in fact, virtual 'give-away' concessions) granted to them by the Bahamas government in connection with their current interest in the Nassau Cruise Port.

As I've said time and time again, the best our nation has to offer continues to be sold by our corrupt and elitist political ruling class to the highest and usually most corrupt foreign bidders for mere peanuts compared to the true value with the peanuts being pocketed by the very privileged few who believe our national heritage is theirs to sell by way of secret lucrative side deals.

Michael Maura and his corrupt Turkish friends know all about this when it comes to certain "unusual transactions" behind the dealings of Nassau Cruise Port Limited. There's even a laughable legal opinion from a Bahamian law that purports to justify the unusual transactions. They should not be allowed to continue profiteering from the overly generous concessions originally corruptly granted by the Bahamian government.

The excessively generous concessions were never intended to be transferable to a known undesirable party like MSC. And to think Maura and his corrupt Turkish friends are now contemplating this be allowed even before completion of the original project. The very corrupt Maura who has already pocketed many millions of dollars for his sordid role in this whole affair should be hung out to dry.

The very corrupt Michael Maura has plenty of reason to smile these days. He was and remains the key negotiator and bagman for highly unusual transactions between enterprises controlled by certain Turkish principals behind the Global Ports Holding Group and certain Bahamas government officials.

The transactions were in fact so unusual that accountants kpmg llp and lawyers Baker & McKenzie LLP had great difficulty in signing-off on the fiscal year 2021 audited consolidated financial statements of Global Ports Holding PLC, a UK public company, notwithstanding the making of various most awkward and revealing related party transaction disclosures.

The UK firms of KPMG and Baker & McKenzie eventually found the 'right' Bahamian law firm to obtain the 'right' kind of legal opinion needed on the probity and propriety of the highly unusual transactions within the context of their legality and acceptability under Bahamian law.

Apparently one of the few remaining highly regarded Bahamian QCs burst out in loud laughter when he read a copy of the Bahamian law firm's legal opinion and was told about certain provisions of the Port Operating License Agreement ('POLA') as well as the nature of certain multi-million dollar transactions involving Turquoise Advisory Limited, a company controlled by the very corrupt Michael Maura. There are also various unusual peculiarities behind the YES Foundation's 2% ownership of Nassau Cruise Port.

All of this seems to be beyond Neil Hartnell's investigative skills as the business editor of The Tribune.
