The majority of Eleutherians including myself are strictly opposed to Disney's immoral tactics for another land grab. Maybe some persons get a lukewarm beer, ten dollars and a tshirt, but will be regretting their choice when the dinner table under which they gather Disney's crumbs is taken away then they will wonder what went wrong. The property will be gone the promises found to be empty and they will be blaming anyone but themselves.

The disgusting state that of the area used for filming the Pirates of the Caribbean in Grand Bahama and how their work has had a deleterious effect on tidal flow, beach erosion, broken down props and other unwanted refuse left behind. They cannot be believed or trusted. The way they treat properties in their own country and others shows that they have no business taking what is ours for their advantage and leaving people and places high and dry and in a foul state of repair. to suit their bottom line. They fired employees for saying telling guests that they used to cruise to Grand Bahama. These employees are paid bottom dollar and have been told that it doesn't matter if they go because there are ten people hungrily waiting just to have the job. This is how they treat their own. Do you think that they will treat those who aren't their own better? Not likely!
Carey has the future as a good long range plan. Birdie has fallen out of the his/her nest too many times and landed on the his/her head. The he/she has concussion and confusion.
Their insurance should have had all contingencies in effect including this. Neither they nor their insurers can afford to try and duck their responsibilities.
Got out in time is the only one using actual historical precedent to argue his/her case. I remember when it was Pine Ridge, the doctor in charge was Dr. Ejnar Gottlieb, who later moved his practice to Marsh Harbour, Abaco, his son Cay Gottlieb who wrote a Bahamian Anthem " Daybreak and crow fly away" lived there earlier in life , his brother, lawyer and ex parliamentarian Frederick Florian Gottlieb was born there, Cay moved back later on to open up a law practice and radio station with his talented partner, Dave Mackey and the Cicada Studios where I recorded as well, history will give great memory but the Hutchison Whampoa business is faceless and is without care now or ever for Grand Bahamas rich and varied history. St. George and Hayward are the huge drivers of the face and economy of Freeport Mr. Pindling's bend or break broke what was a promising gold mine for the Bahamas and it has never been able to regain its original impetus, direction or worth. We lost big time with Ping and his bunch of short sighted crooked bandits.
Also too many looking at their telephones and looking for garbage in their car to throw out of the window before reaching their destination rather than the road - and at speeds well over 45 mile per hour.
Disney must not have Lighthouse point. They promise jobs but have an dismal record of hiring and firing at whim. For all of those who have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads, the cruel fact is that within a year they will be replaced because as the Disney operators once told a friend who worked for them and mentioned that they did port in Grand Bahama when they were told to never mention it - she was told that it did not matter what she thought or what were past facts, thatoficially that never hppened and that her being in their employ was nothing particular to them as there were 10 people waiting to take on her low paying job. She was let go on the spot. Losing that piece of heritage to Disney would be a travesty as we (me being Eleutherian) would lose forever a pristine point of natural beauty which would only be ruined by Disney bevelopment and the dredging of surrounding sea bed for their ships would be only another knife in our throats. Disney and other cruise companies are in it for themselves, they really do not spread ny wealth nor do they care about the people they employ or those who live thereabouts and would lose access to something special that is ours and should be preserved as such.
