The cruise port has been a mistake from its inception. It has wrecked the whole town of Nassau and the hawkers who pay no insurance, taxes, questionable use of occasional licenses if they have any at all have nothing of value and detract from businesses that pay VAT, NIB, rent, licenses and staff. No sanitary facilities either. Please we have send them elsewhere rather than Woodes Rogers Walk and Pompey Square where they are currently settling in and squatting to the cost of renters, tenants, tax paying operations and the overall dirty image of our town.
The video of a passenger saying that the 45 minutes that she was allowed for shopping off board wasn’t near enough time to shop compare and buy before having to get back on board the ship so that it could sail on to its private island with its captive passengers and their captive wallets. New rules must be put in place demanding overnight stays in Nassau- that would guarantee the impetus to recreate night life and restaurant endeavours in town, maybe even a night club or three with live shows and showcasing local talent. The spirit of Sweet Richard might even return. Remember, we can set the rules regarding these mega cruise companies, we cannot now or ever allow them to dictate to us.
Now should a child afforded Bahamian citizenship and never live in The Bahamas have a child with another foreign parent pass on that right of Bahamian citizenship to their progeny, and they beget more and more and more … where does the the roller coaster stop?
These previous comments are so blatantly true! Perhaps a law reversing the gabling house permission could go into effect with the proviso that a national lottery be set up to replace those blood and money sucking gaming houses
