This is how Perry seems to do his calculations...I borrowed $400 from you last year. This year I only borrowed another $100. See !! This year debt is DOWN 75% !! (But, but, but..... Mr Christie.....now you owe me $500) Well, maybe that's so....but at least I don't owe you $800 like I could have done if I borrowed another $400 like last year.....so let's not confuse the populace with too many numbers, because they aren't too smart. So....like I said before......This year debt is DOWN 75% !!

Going into town early each morning, I get to see groups of these Coolies gathering in the grounds of their lodgings, and some days there are anywhere from twenty to thirty men. The true number of how many are employed must be staggering. And the Bahamians who are employed? They are the ones who hold up the traffic signs when the Chinamen cross the roads !! The Pointe thinks that our own men and women are only capable of being the school crossing guards for the Yellow Horde. Disgusting.

Reading between the lines, the results are even worse than Mr Roberts is letting on. If sales are down before backing out VAT, then they are also down even more when you consider the effects of price increases in 2015 (and we all know that every week you go to his supermarkets, prices have gone up a nickel here, a dime there) This is just another sign that the economy is going down the toilet, even as government tries to extract more money by way of new taxes. Now just bring on NHI, and Christie will have successfully destroyed the working middle class......

From fighting tooth-and-nail before its implementation, to now lauding it as "the lowest and simplest" in the world, maybe Mr Roberts has been pressured by the government to change his tune? After all it is us who pay VAT and he merely acts as Matthew the tax collector.

It would be foolish, unwise and an outright lie for me to say that merchants have already worked out how to scam the system, and that they take a cut from VAT collected and do not pay over the full amount (/s)

Major? Is the government, or the Tribune, so desperate for any good news that 20lbs of pot is now deemed to be "major"?

After months of dead lines, crackling down the line and even bogus calls posted to my account, I finally had enough and cancelled my BTC account. Then, and only then, did their service personnel call me of their own volition....not to apologise for the bad service, or to fix the line etc etc, but to beg me not to close my account and go to Cable Bahamas. Seems to me that the expect us to just suck it up and put up with their nonsense. But by now I guess they're getting used to people leaving them

Mr Ferguson's comments are heartfelt, and in any other environment, would be a great inspiration to others to help the community. But your comment puts the reality of the situation in a nutshell. There is a popular meme doing the rounds..."This is why we can't have nice things"......Sadly, in our country, "this" is the Government, its kleptocratic policies and its sheer incompetence.

This feckless government continues to shame us and play loose with our children's resources. Soon we will be one oil spill away from not only losing all our tourism, but we won't even be able to go back to being a fishing village

I pity any of the poor fools who might have been hoodwinked into investing in PHA via its recent debt issue. Nowadays the government isn't even bothering to hide the massive scale of corruption under its watch.
