FORMER NBA player and Bahamian actor Rick Fox has sparked speculation about a possible move into politics after sharing a series of reflective social media posts over the holiday weekend.
On Sunday, Mr Fox told followers he had been hearing from people asking whether he would consider running in the next general election.
“I’ve been hearing from a lot of you lately asking if I’m thinking about politics… if I’d consider running in the next general election,” he wrote. “Truth is, I didn’t expect so many people to care. But I’ve been having real conversations with women, youth, business owners, everyday Bahamians and I keep hearing the same thing: ‘We’re ready for something different.’”
While stressing that he was not making any announcements, Mr Fox said he was “listening, reflecting, and exploring what the next chapter could look like,” adding that he believes The Bahamas’ best days are ahead “if we come together with vision and purpose.”
A day later, on National Heroes Day, Mr Fox shared another post celebrating the people who shaped his life and the nation’s story — including his father, grandparents, and national figures such as Sir Lynden Pindling, the Women’s Suffrage Movement, Sir Sidney Poitier, Mychal Thompson, and Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis.
Mr Fox said Mr Davis encouraged him four years ago to return home and bring his innovation “to the front lines of climate change” to help build “a global industry from The Bahamas”.
“These leaders and icons of mine remind me daily what it means to serve, inspire, and build a better life for my family, my community, and our nation,” he wrote.
Mr Fox, who serves as the country’s Sports Ambassador, is also the founder and CEO of Partanna, a climate technology company that produces carbon-negative building materials.
In 2022, Mr Fox signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bahamian government for Partanna to develop a carbon-negative concrete manufacturing facility. At the time, the first 30 affordable homes were set to be built with the new sustainable material in Abaco the following year.
Mr Fox also serves as the country’s Sports Ambassador.

What many Bahamians fail to realize is, in order for Rick Fox to run in any election he would have to denounce his dual citizenship. And I do not see him doing that, right now he's just hyping up the masses.

The Bahamas House of Parliament is like Hollywood, sometimes its Hard to determine what's real and and proceedings like a Basketball game, Big contracts, a lot of dribbling and fouling with no baskets to move the nation forward the way it should , So yeah, he gots lots of experience and should fit in nicely.
