when will we ever change our approach as a society to mental illnesses and most of all depression. A church isn't going to fix it.

I hope his plan isn't to win by default as people don't want the PLP. Hillary tried that tactic and lost the electoral college.

He has to get his platform out there and get more people to register. The current low register count is because no one has confidence in either side of the fence. I'm more inclined to spoil my ballot if I don't see plans being discussed.

Numbers and payday loans do more to destroy low income neighborhoods than they do to build them. Notice you see a liquor store, Chinese food joint, beauty salon, church and a numbers place all on the same road in 'certain' neighborhoods? The biggest money maker for the wealthy, is the poor.

reminds me of that 'oil exploration' venture, you know the one that was on the London stock exchange so Bahamians couldn't buy into it? Yet some Politicians held sizeable stock in it?

If people haven't realized by now, Central Bank must have been complicit for this to carry on for years. But don't worry in typical fashion this administration will create a 'new' regulatory body to work 'alongside' the Central bank' to regulate the industry. They might even hire an external auditor again to disprove the previous audit. Or even better just take the NHI/NIB money and bail the bank out again.

I should state my allegiances first. I care not for the fnm/plp/dna/whatever party. I only care about smart policies and good ideas that can fix the country.

I fear Minnis may not have effective plans or strategies to deal with the problems that now plague this country. He hasn't shown himself to be effective as opposition so I hope his candidates and advisors have non-moronic positions on issues. The Budget needs a cut, the deficit needs to go down (lots of austerity measures), the cost of electricity needs to be brought down, the dump needs resolving, BOB is a failure, NIB needs some restructuring, WTF is BAMSI, China now holds a major stake in our economy etc.

I'm simply too skeptical, especially after Minnis ducked a debate with LBT before that failure of a convention to have a rally. Rally politics needs to die and we need to move towards a platform of debates where policies and plans can be thoroughly evaluated by the public. Gone should be the days of Rum, $20 and a T-shirt. If Minnis fails to capitalize on the demand for change, if he continues to fail to get people to register to vote, and if opposition 'groupings' fail to unite into a coalition, which I suspect they will fail, then the FNM is heading straight for oblivion along with the entire country in the long haul.

What makes it sad is that the FNM for this entire administration had perhaps the worst government ever to oppose, which in theory shouldn't be difficult considering how shit the PLP has performed. Hopefully, something changes but it would be no surprise if just like the bobo and Toogie saga if the FNM snatches defeat out of the jaws of victory.

I attended one of the meetings and gave some feed back but I must admit it was poorly attended. I was there with 11 other people. That 11 included the presenters. I am not sure about all of the meetings and their times and whether they were convenient enough for persons. That being said this act is pretty hollow with lots of vague language ready for abuse. Whether anything has changed since I read it I have no idea.

"Your a complete a$$hole"
You mean You're*
I voted in support of the referendum and to also accuse someone of being PLP scum after saying that further shows your own stupidity... considering the PLP brought about the referendum in the first place.

Also, I support neither party and I care very little for party politics when both sides have shown themselves to be absolutely incompetent, and devoid of proper policy/planning.
Take your tears, that butthurt and your salt somewhere else sir to someone who gives a crap.

Alex_Charles says...

who is surprised? Also, why are people raging at Minnis? Sure he's incompetent and has no policies but he beat Loretta fair and square 3 times. I honestly don't understand why this is taking so long to get through Loretta's skull. Form your own party or Join another. IS this brain surgery for people to get? If you don't like one party or it's leader then look elsewhere.

Both LBT and Minnis have destroyed the FNM as both seem driven by ego and personal interest in being a PM. I stand in support of neither and I honestly could care less what happens to either of them. Personalities will not save this country, policy, planning and action will. Unless someone emerges with a platform to do that, with good ideas that are based in reality, they would have my confidence and vote.
