The Bahamas according to Numbeo, the crowd sourced global database, the Bahamas sits at number 3 on the list of world's most expensive countries to live in. We have the lowest local purchasing power (wages) and poorest standards of living aside from Jamaica which sits at number 10 on the list.
Our cost low electricity further contributes to that issue and that is an epic failure on BOTH major parties who governed. If we can't battle our inflation then the country will either go bust or massive amounts of gentrification will continue.
I mean what the hell do you expect the man to say? Minnis brought him int the bloody party. I'm positive in private he has different views but publicly what he is doing is smart.
The only way this will work against the PLP is if a coalition can be had and a leader of said coalition can be agreed upon. Also, that requires that coalition to be strong and willing to work together with no power struggles. during their administration. If that can hold and all opposition forces can remain steadfast to their constituents then I believe then can mount a powerful enough alternative to encourage people to register and to vote.
people scream about democracy yet LBT rage quit the convention race. lol Every last one of them are contradicting themselves. Minnis is a terrible leader but was elected as party leader, the last time by no competition. He has a democratic RIGHT to remain as leader as his party descends into the bush to burn. What you are seeing is not a triumph of democracy, but a mockery of it from Perry to Minnis to LBT and Bran. The best thing that can happen is a coalition and even then expect personal gain and self interest to trump national interests once again.
We are NOT reforming our system, just changing the faces of power. Our system is just as rotten as that of America. However, we are at a point where we don't vote for the better choice, just who will screw things up at a slower pace.
You want a regulated Bus system? You must be insane. find out which individuals own the Bus plates and hoardes them then you will understand why no gains has been made on that. Buses/Taxis are two of the most corruption services in New Providence and they are both used as political tools when ready.
It's not hard to make change, they just don't want to.
Not a fan of Minnis, not a fan of LBT. You can't be the de Facto leader of a party after you lost 3 times to Minnis. Okay, maybe let's not count the 3rd time where LBT backed out of the race last minute like a coward. If you can't secure the leadership of your party then either join another party or form your own.
But to lose 3 times then cry you deserve to be leader is asinine and absurd. Minnis is a weak leader with seemingly no policy positions. To lose to him repeatedly shows you to be even weaker and ineffectual than he is. The party will suffer a blow to it's voter base at the polls and the support for the DNA will grow. Fact remains, either this gigantic cluster fk of an opposition we have form a united coalition OR prepare for the. Chinese Gold Rush "ALL Da WAY" in 2017.
you can't have division on the bloody front lines.
There is something missing in this story here, it's one sided. That being said though, I fear that we may be witnessing what happens when government gets heavy handed in the private sector and trashes it. Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
You'd think after Brexit and the US elections people would catch some sense and realize insulting masses of people to bring them to see things your way never works.
I hope if this continues you won't be one of those individuals crying on camera like Hillary supporters were when she lost and calling those who voted against what you did, stupid and ignorant. That only shows YOU to be the ignorant one.
