Had a conversation with a former high ranking IMF official over the holidays who was adamant that VAT would not work effectively without profit taxes. He also says that uour government was advised of this by the IMF. It will absolutely be a much greater burden on the poor.
Coffee is duty free??? Really so why did the price go up $1.80 for Maxwell House a few weeks ago (in Super Value only, John Chea keep it at the same price) and then it went down about $1.00 the next. When I asked I was told it was D'lbeanas. I box of Ritz Crackers is $7.45. It is $1.30 in Florida. Something ain right.
The amount of bad press this country has recieved because of Immigration and their policies is amazing. This will soon back fire. Time for some corrective measures and damage control.
Why the hell he idn't think about that 5 years ago. They have to wait for crisis to start thinking. We all knew that Obama was going to open Cuba eventually. I am sure we will be caught with our pants down. Why we didn't do two for the price of one before? Millions of tourist been going to Cuba for years. We could have tapped into that market long ago

Talk of Cuba 'opening up' has been around since Obama took office. This comes as no surprise. It should not have surprised our government either. But of cousre we lack inovative thinkers, people with vision so no preparations have been made. We still have some time, the embago has not been lifted but obviously thats comes next. Lets see what steps government takes to protect our people...I'll bet ya none. They are clueless. Just in case you didn't know Cuba already sees more tourist than the Bahamas, already has more hotels and there are more flights and airlines servicing Cuba than this country. However they food is lousy and so is the service. (we have them there)
