@Oracle. The financial secretary is not responsible for drafting most policies for economic growth, That is really the responsible of the cabinet. He is merely a civil servant trying to do his job. You do not understand that. Like some one said to me years ago, this economic model was created by late Harold Christie and late Stafford Sands. Pindling never changed it. Other caribbean countries have copied it. A big time FNM member told me that.

He is speaking the truth. This briefing should have been done by the Director of Works Who is the director and where is he/she?

The best road on this island is the Western Road heading to Lyford Road past the Old Fort Bay round about. That was the opinion of an engineer in a letter to the Nassau Guardian. It was built and engineered by a Canadian firm for the late E.P. Taylor. Also the roads West Bay Street on
the Bahmar strip. Most roads in this country are not engineered and no built to first world standards The city of Freeport have way better roads than New Providence.

@Moncurcool. He is speaking the truth. The overtime fees charged by the government for these flights are paid to the customs and immigration officers who are on duty and work these flights. That is the reason for the resistance to a shift system by their union.

That is the reason over fifteen years ago, Iberia Airlines decided at that time not to make LPIA a hub for their operations.Of course you and Neil Hartnell do not know that..You have no idea about this matter.

Eventually pressure is coming to make changes to this situation. It is not going be done by your FNM party and definitely not by Brave and his merry band.Vantage the management of LPIA is going to start to apply pressure

@SP.You can not be that naive to think that only politicians are corrupt in this country.

There was a court case years ago about a drug trafficking on a family island. The convicted american drug trafficker explain how he paid off the two police officers, custom officer and immigration officer on that island.

There is widespread corruption in this country. Politicians are not the only corrupt people in this country. People in the know will tell you that.

@Sheeprunner12. This problem with the payroll system was being dealt with by John Rolle. The reason previous attempts fail was resistance and lack of buy-in by certain civil servants. Since every thing in your simple mind PLP and FNM, John is married to the late Chuck Virgill's niece. This is really an attempt to stave off this country heading to bankruptcy and modernize the payroll system. If Hubert Ingraham remained as prime minister,he would support this program.

The problems with the government payroll has been ongoing for fifty years. John Rolle, when he was acting as financial secretary attempted to deal with this.

The letter was written by the Director of Immigration. The letter was addressed to the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Immigration and Labour.

Keith Bell should resign.. This situation is just the tip of the iceberg.

Jamaicans and Trinidadians have done that for years in their countries. That is why the late ' Gordon 'Butch ' Stewart became a hotel magnate.

There are two questions about the music industry here I always ask, in the Bahamas.

1. Why has Bahamian music not gone global yet? Reggae,dance-hall, calypso and soca have gone global.
2. As close as the Bahamas is to the United States, there has not been a successful, sustainable musical festival here. In the caribbean there is Reggae Sumfest, ST.Luicia Jazz Fest and Tobago Jazz Festival.Theyare hugely popular music festivals.

The local government should not have been paid for the beach clean up. The persons who received the funds should be held to account for it.

However in the real world beyond this country, local governments raise and collect taxes, fees for services. I have a relative who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have a billion dollar budget larger than the Bahamas. The Bahamas is a primitive country when it comes to governance.
