The chickens have come home to roost.These problems which are long-standing have been ignored by the public for years.Irresponsible parents who think the public school system on New Providence is a day -care center.Politicians who destroyed any sense of discipline through their interference,cronyism and plain dumb decisions. Incompetence throughout the entire system
Sometimes I wonder why we became an independent country?

The FNM government met a revenue enhancement unit in place.In one of their idiotic decisions,it was dismantled and it's contracted staff dismissed.True to form ,they figured out how it worked and had to re-establish it,Throwing the baby away with the bath water.This is on e of the reasons,this country is mired in these situations.Two myopic parties who took turns governing.

The Bahamas should have been part of the WTO from the beginning.We have wasted so much time for this accession process.This country is badly in need in need of modernization in trade and how business is conducted in this country.

A relative of mine who lives in an upscale neighbourhood in the east made this comment.The reputable waste management had their contract stopped in mid-December abruptly.His garbage was not collected for three weeks.The company which got the new contract did not have the right vehicle.These situations in the country is just getting more frustrating.

I have several comments or questions about this.

1. Why should any sensible,educated bahamian return to live and work in this country after experiencing life in the first world?
2. What exactly is this so called bahamian dream?Nobody I spoke to,seem to know.

I am not surprised at all about this.I asked somebody last year where is Christina?There were some decisions being made at BPL without her input.The lady is a highly qualified professional.
There are bahamian professionals living and working aboard who don't have the time for the foolishness that goes on in this country.

Senseless. My condolences to the young man's family and friends. I grieve for the young man's mother.This incident highlights something that has plague the school system for decades.That is the issue of bullying.Many of those incidents are swept under the carpet and not spoken of.

This is complex socio-economic issues they are dealing with.Education will pay a major role in this matter.Both parties have launched schemes to redevelop the inner cities without proper studies.

iI am not surprised at all.

The mass promotion exercise of over eight hundred officers by the PLP was a farce.It was an attempt to gain support from police officers and their families.The police force is top-heavy and can't recruit enough officers.That problem goes beyond our petty politics and ties in with a problem,Bahamians are well aware of.The academic problems of young Bahamians males.
