The FS position was a payoff for the services he provided the FNM during the election campaign. He is one of Minnis's key advisors. He don't know what is doing. To hide that fact, Cartwright was promoted from treasury to aid him.He is really a public relations man.His predecessor Wilson, was a competent and honest civil servant. You see how a year after effectively disbanding the revenue enhancement unit, he had to go back and reform it. He and Turnquest claimed it was ineffective.Several persons I have spoken to me,have told me these things about him. but he will fumble along here.because this is the Bahamas.
This bill was passed very quickly and not properly debated in parliament.Questions are being raised by the NPO which this bill proposes to regulate. This bill was simply rushed to parliament to satisfy the OECD countries and organizations like the FATF.
These people are constantly changing their story.I thought the increase in the vat rate was to pay off the arrears left by the PLP. Now I am hearing it is for the WTO accession. If the Bahamas was a mature westminister democracy, he should resign. But as some one said to me,this is the Bahamas.
The politicians , especially the PLP destroyed the civil service.Through their fostering of victimization, nepotism, cronyism and plain dumb bone headed decisions. As for this economy. git can't flourish in this new global economy. The financial services sector is on its death -bed being pressured by the OECD countries.Tourism will face increasing competition from other countries in the caribbean especially Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
The chairman of BPL should request this information from the managers of BPL.They should know how this came about ,if they are managing the company. If the managers of BPL can't supply this information, they should be terminated.
Did not expect their projections do be off by that amount.A highly educated person told me a few weeks ago,Mr.Johnson is out of his depth. The person said he does not know his job.
Bahamians just need to read these two books. They describe this situation in the Bahamas today. They are Men at Risk and Marginalization of the Black Male in the Caribbean. They were written by a Jamaican,Professor Errol Miiler. He has written about this matter over twenty years ago. But sociology is not a serious subject or studied much in the Bahamas.
