Maybe LBT is the wrong person to use in this scenario...anyone in general capable of hitting these people, PLP, FNM or DNA over the head with an idiot stick when they talk stupidness.

It's not just the Tribune...mind you they are definitely more biased...the other major tabloid which is typically more neutral or leaning 'Yella' has been called out for being overly critical.

Trucks first...then we need to look at barring the unsafe drivers!! Some of those guys are a pure menace. Not nearly as bad as the Jitney drivers, but still, you are racing around on narrow roads in a rig sometimes 50-60 feet long and weighing 30-40 tons roughly? What's the average 40' container...22T or thereabouts maxed out, plus the tractor head? Mad props go out to the safe and responsible big rig drivers.

Positive words...that's a tough one...I'd like to say something like optimistic or something along those lines, for having the belief that they can get away with what they are getting away with, but I think that is more like delusional.

Anybody with any common sense, which apparently Obie lacks, knows that the way the law was written, and the 'spirit' of the law is that whatever you put into your work week, is what you get back out...if you work 5 days and have 2 days rest, your vacation week is 5 days with your same 2 days off. Within that week however you split up your work time and your time off, that's what you get paid...if you actually only work 24 hours...3 days out of the week and have 4 days off, you only get paid for 3 days vacation, but you still get the 7 day week period, but your pay portion of that week is the hours you put into it. Now, can the law be better written or defined, yes, and it probably needs to be reviewed, but don't twist and contort things that you know you can poke at and exploit out of some sort of non-commonsensical ambiguity.

Sadly, we HAVE created institutions...institutions that teach us that crime does pay, that being deceitful is to your benefit, that it is all about what you can do for yourself, that laws are created for OTHER people but not you, so don't worry about it. So long as you know someone on the inside, it's all good and can be fixed or overlooked to your benefit. The Bahamian version of pride and respect is truly warped. Bahamian pride is more about protecting yourself and doing what you have to to survive. That's not pride or respect for me...pride or respect is earned through doing the right thing for your community, abiding by the laws, being an honest and upright person, not some thug that is pounding his chest defending his pride because someone may have said something about his mother...if you get my drift.

Not that I am supporting the FNM in any way here, but I think we need an LBT slapping procession line, we can hire her in a professional capacity to be the official idiot slapper...when they come out with statements like this, they need to go the headmasters office for their LBT slap. Sadly, I think her hands would get rather sore from the repeated punishments!! I'm thinking the penny is finally dropping for the politicians, on both sides of the fence, that the masses are not happy at all and they better do something RIGHT and QUICK...the pressure is NOT going to subside until they do.

I really do hope that the DNA, or some other party can come up with a serious enough challenge to the old guard. I don't want to vote for either PLP or FNM in the next election, but I am not about to just vote for the DNA if that is the next best choice if they are not ready. 2017 is going to be a serious conflict for Bahamians when it comes time to vote.

Some people actually voted A-B-C...good lord, we truly are screwed if anyone thinks they are actually doing a good to mediocre job. No way no how!!

The police in this country are their own 'gang' of thugs. Just this past week you had an article with a family that was descended upon by police and they witnessed full on police brutality, with one individual getting their head slammed up against a concrete wall, he was then taken to the ground and kicked and beaten, a mother holding a child was grabbed around the throat. Time and time again, the conduct of the police officers is WAY out of order and in contravention of the very laws they are meant to be enforcing.
